The first gameplay for Avowed has been revealed in this new trailer. Coming 2024

I think people are confusing “graphics” with art style.

Skyrim had iffy fidelity but their art style was among the best in the industry.

Obsidian just doesn’t have that magic touch in regards with their art direction as we’ve seen with TOW and now this. It’s not the end of the world at all but it’s not a fidelity issue that people have issue with, it’s the art style.

It’s a big difference.

Either way, still weird.

Eh, not really unless they’re acting like it’s the end of the world or they’re acting like it’s suddenly going to be a bad game.

Art style is important and people notice it right away.

What is this magic touch? What is wrong with the art style? Going by past Obsidian games, this is kinda exactly want i expected.

Were people expecting Hellblade 2 dark art style for Avowed? Is that why? If it is, It’s on them and not Avowed.

BTW Avowed not trying to be Skyrim. They made that clear now.

Doesn’t have to be a deep conspiracy lol. Some people just don’t like the art direction. It’s not something new, this has been a discussion since The Outer Worlds release.

It’s not the fans fault that Obsidian released a trailer in 2020 that they obviously couldn’t replicate. The game is still going to be quality af. Narrative and stories are their bread and butter.

OK. To each their own. Them people are the few minority. Once Avowed release and the RPG mechanic and Quest/Story design are great? You won’t hear anything about art style or graphics anymore.

I mean people still bring it up with The Outer Worlds lol.

Art style isn’t like graphics, it’s not some meaningless thing. Art Style one of the most important things for gamers Hi Fi Rush is a great example.

But yes, to each their own.

The problem is that the graphics at this point reduce the audience to the game.

Again, they are a few minority. The major majority like it. That all that should matter.

Sure I guess, don’t really care for that type of convo lol.

Just addressing the difference between graphics and art style.

Some people were saying the same thing about Starfield and such. Bad graphics, bad artstyle, blah blah blah… I will wait for Avowed Direct to shut them people up. Starfield sure did shutting up them Starfield haters lol.

It’s Obsidian. Proving people wrong is what they do best.

I myself think that the game looks very good, I liked the fact that each magic has its own color theme.

Avowed seems like it’s also going to give us multiple ways to play, not just spell sword, but full wizards, sword and board, archer, spell bow, dual wielding, 2handing.

Right now what Obsidian needs to show off next year is the games rpg system, character creator of course as we saw both make and female characters being played.

But also a lot of the stuff that was shown off with Starfield: traits, religion, background, if worshipping any specific God comes with some benefits.

Also, I would like to know what type of lighting system they’re using? , if we’re going to have proper day and night cycles? What type of fantasy creatures will they employ from their previous games? Werewolves? Vampires? Can we become one?

Anyways love what I’m seeing so far and can’t wait for more. So to get more familiar with the games world I will play the previous entries.

Yes, this is some of the more important stuff!

You are in for a long, deep RPG experience if you are doing both Pillar games, they are magnificent beasts.

I said when Microsoft announced Obsidian purchase that the world is not ready for Obsidian with money.

The world is still not ready.

It is weird that some people find it weird that other people think art direction/style is super important in games.

The art direction of this Avowed trailer and TOW is off putting to some, but that doesn’t mean the game will be bad of course.

Yeah, I’m going to be checking out guides for them like I did with DoS2(mostly steam), since I’m very new to the CRPG(?) genre. I’m also about to finish my second playthrough of DoS2 so I need a new game to play, as I also get a good handle on Wasteland 3 mechanics from steam community guides(since build diversity doesn’t seem as flexible as DoS2).
