The first gameplay for Avowed has been revealed in this new trailer. Coming 2024

This right here. People who want Graphics above all else. There are games that does that. They are called 3rd person cinematic action adventure. The Sony special as i like to call it.

Haha. But yeahā€¦ Itā€™s like complaining about the cover of a book. Like wtf?

Game looks good to me, it was never going to look like the CGI reveal

I lot of the people complaining are bemoaning the art direction and not the graphical fidelity. Iā€™m also in the ā€œgameplay > graphicsā€ crowd, but the art direction isnā€™t appealing to me. I liked the art direction of the CGI reveal, but not that from this trailer.

Imo, the order of priority is gameplay > art direction > graphical fidelity.

It is fine to make unrealistic games, but the color palette of Avowed and the outer world are just cheap and ugly. Itā€™s not about art direction, Itā€™s simply wrong colors.

Too many high saturated red and green and blue and purple color, like my grandmaā€™s pants.

I find the complaints super weird, I didnā€™t look at the trailer and think it looked bad at all, was actually shocked after the fact that some people found issue with it.

It looks like pillars 2. Itā€™s just the high contrast colours.

Thatā€™s what I mean when I say art direction. Colors are a big part of art direction imo. I agree with you that TOW doesnā€™t look very good, and Avowed is leaning in that direction.

Avowed simply needs a trailer that focuses towards itā€™s strengthā€¦ They focused too much on combat and environments when they should have focused on quests and storytelling.

Right there with you, especially the complaints about the magic casting.

I agree with this. Also I imagine Avowed will be most peopleā€™s introduction to the PoE universe. They should have went into why this world is so interesting. I know pretty much nothing about the PoE universe after watching that trailer.

If it doesnā€™t release till the end of the 2024 they will have the same amount of time as starfield to polish it up.

It looks similar to pillars 2 itā€™s just the high contrast colour plants and stuff that looked ripped out of a borderlands game.

Itā€™s entirely different though? You arenā€™t staring at the cover the entire time you read the book. I donā€™t think it looks bad enough to make the game worse to play, I just donā€™t like it.

On a rewatch I feel like most of it is just awful lighting which definitely should be better by launch.

Hope Microsoft really helps them with the visualsā€¦ Iā€™d also like a bit of gore tbhā€¦

I rather they put that time in to make the best possible RPG mechanic and Story/Quest design than fucking graphics.

Avowed will live or die by itā€™s RPG mechanic and Story/Quest. I mean who play vanilla Skyrim for it Graphics?

The analogy might not be perfect but the point still stands. The complaints are weird af.

A lot of it was expectations that the reveal trailer set. It set a tone, and relative art style and this is drastically different. People will get over it with time.

Itā€™s true. If they can keep the Pillars level of story this will be great.

We agree gameplay over graphics? Cause for example Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas gameplay is what keeps people coming back and keep playing it. Itā€™s not the graphics.

If Avowed story and quest design is great. RPGā€™s fans wonā€™t care about it graphics, even though i think it looks fine.

I watched the trailer again after the showcase. It looks great. I donā€™t see what the problem is. Plus, they have a year or so to keep polishing the game. Either way, im looking forward to Avowed!!
