The first gameplay for Avowed has been revealed in this new trailer. Coming 2024

I’m talking about the bullshots in this thread that are heavily touched up that didn’t look that way in the trailer.

Video games shouldn’t make you this angry.

Other peoples opinions shouldn’t make make you feel so defensive.

Prove that they are bullshots.

I guarantee this game will be great seeing as it is an Obsidian game, but hopefully no more CGI trailers from them in the future, because it only leads to too high of expectations.

I really would like to see Obsidian reallly staff up though, with at least an additional 200 or so employees, so they can really be able to be a Bethesda type of studio.

With Obsidian working on both Avowed and The Outer Worlds, it is going to be important that in my opinion at least both don’t look or feel too much the same.

So I hate coming off as negative, when Obsidian is one of my favorite developers, I just would have preferred a different color palette.

That being said I know game play and story from them will be great.

I’m sure the game will still be awesome but I have just watched the trailer again and it does feel like a significant visual downgrade (compared to the reveal).

The bit on the dock feels very dated.

It’s about what I expected. Jez has said himself many times that Avowed was scaling back and had a small reboot because they don’t have the manpower to do a Bethesda, or CDPR high production RPG.

How is it a visual downgrade from a CG reveal trailer

Obsidian just doesn’t have the juice to make visually appealing games. Maybe in a couple of years.

Game is still going to be fantastic though.

IIRC Avowed is Unreal Engine 4…so, its a dated engine and…lets face it, you have a 200 person studio making 4 games at once. It wasn’t going to look like as good as Starfield or TES.

What they eluded to us getting in the reveal is significantly different to what they showed today.

Its almost like game development isn’t a linear process and goes through changes as it progresses.

the bottom is cgi. “and what they were eluding too” spellcasting with hand gestures is definitely in the game lol.

I mean, I don’t think its blowing anyone away graphically, but I dont play graphics, I play games.

Tears of the Kingdom is one of the best games I have ever played and its running on a nearly decade old phone processor and looks mostly like shit.

No, as I have already said it’s likely still going to be a great game but IMO they have definitely changed direction with their art style.

The reveal trailer definitely seemed more realistic. Even the logo now seems to be more cartoonish/colourful.

I get being a bit shocked if you were expecting one thing and got another, but I am all for diversity in visual style.

I have to say this… People who are whining about graphics in a proper RPG do not have their priorities straight. Go play a movie or something.

All I saw watching the trailer was I can’t wait to get immersed in this and explore Eora and the stories and characters crafted by mfing Obsidian.

The reveal was CGI. Dear lord.

Someone pin this before I rip my hair out!

Hue means the very last bit, that looked like gameplay. Many of us since then have expected the game to look like that. But Obsidian never said it was ingame.
