Gaf is just a garbage site to begin with. Just a bunch of degenerate fanboys allowed to shyte on anything Xbox. Literally gives me shivers thinking about it.
I note how talk of Sony studios being unhappy being forced to make GaaS has been shut down across many of the usual places…
It’s ridiculous. If this was an Xbox story there would be hundreds of articles, threads and comments….
Seems strange not to say that about perfect dark and go after a smaller tittle hey?
It doesn’t help that the so-called journalists reviewing and talking about games are clueless on how the sausage is made as am I. I think it would be nice to have Shows, mini docs and so on talking about things like this opening up the industry more. Perhaps things like this should be what is promoted at the Keighley awards. I know DF does this sometimes and some of the big devs do it once in a while.
An example on twitter comes to mind where someone made comparison between Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 without understanding why certain things couldn’t be implemented in the same way and a developer from CDPR replied explaining things.
Patrick K. Mills on X: “I like starfield a lot, so I’m not getting involved in the core criticism here, but I will say that the way they handle cinematics vs 2077 is not down to engine so much as it is tools and design. Related but not the same.” / X (twitter.com) The bad thing here was someone speaking on something they weren’t qualified to speak on and thereby spreading misinformation that gained millions of views.
People who say “Bethesda needs to drop the Creation Engine” are morons who think that sounds smarter than it actually is (and no surprise it’s Synth Potato, the fucking eejit). Bethesda games live and die by their community creations. Ditch the engine and you can say bye-bye to 3/4ths of the mod creators. People have been saying this crap since it was the goddamn Gamebryo Engine and thankfully Bethesda doesn’t listen to dumbass armchair developers. And if they did we’d get the “Todd Howard and Bethesda turn their backs on the modding community” articles or some other asinine shit.
Also, whats their solution for the engine? “Just use Unreal, bro.” Pfft, morons.
It’s amazing to think two new engines or rather upgrade (not update) are introduced this year, so they are in early stage that shown very promising future with impressive result.
A lot of people don’t engage (assuming they even played the game) enough with all the systems that the game has fit in it to understand just how insane that all of that can exist in just one game/engine. Focus on just the presentation qualities dilutes the discourse of engine and tech.
A lot also don’t understand that mods are enabled by Bethesda intentionally and that is an engine quality that has to be considered in development, they open up their engine tools to allow us to mod their games freely, in the same game they designed, not in sperate maps or rooms, no, it’s all done within the game they built. No other game or engine does this, none, zero, zip, zilch, nada!
Graphics are what most look at. You could clearly see as that guy is a red dead guy. This is why I said it would be nice to have more of these transparencies of the video game industry otherwise you get people writing essays on nonsense.
People need to watch this and tell me the creation engine is outdated lol. This is from a decade old engine(imagine creation engine 2) and it looks better than most games, made by modders without a million dollar budget. These toxic gamers don’t know what they are talking about and by the words of that CDPR dev who debunk this whole farce, it’s about the tools and priorities, not the engine.
I’ve been playing cyberpunk and Starfield back to back. I love both games. But let’s be real. Cyberpunk as good as it is, doesn’t hold a candle to Starfield. Apart from PC tech and graphics Starfield is ahead in every other category.
Cyberpunk and especially this expansion are little more than to my mind a glorified call of duty game in an open world. There is no real depth to the systems or choices and the game is just a nice superficial romp through a well presented world.
But Starfield is a deep world with hugely complex systems that immerses you in a variety of ways. I do like cyberpunk don’t get me wrong but they aren’t close to each other in terms of rpg depth and quality….miles apart.
The funniest argument is when a person say no one is talking about Starfield yet the very post they made is among one. Comedy is rich again.
Seriously, they try so hard to not make Starfield a thing only to talk about non stop by comparing it negatively to another game.
We have seen the tweet you posted about how many articles have been written about Starfield in comparison to other games. It’s mind blowing how the engagement around Starfield either negative or positive is literally, pushing all other games aside. To the point that to get people to talk about those games, they have to bring Starfield into it.
“Sonic Superstars is a fun throwback game that fans will love. It’s much faster than Starfield, which makes it better.”
Oh man, I can actually see it happen.
“Unlike Starfield, Sonic Superstars doesn’t subject you to constant loading, allowing you to go fast as much as you want.”
Brace yourself after the next week babyyyyyy
There will be tears, tantrums and smears (whenever it closes it may well not be next week).
I’m especially looking forward to ‘MS are too big in gaming now, its anti-competitive’ followed up with ‘Xbox will be sold off soon’.

Just be prepared. Stay here in the bunker if you have to.
Actually, no. Brace yourself after Spider-man 2’s release.
