Oh I’d definitely prefer to stick to console for sure but if it’s a choice between PS or PC, then it’s easy for me
No Game Pass is no bueno
If I get a handheld I can definitely see me spending a lot of time grinding retroachievements

I will probably stay with whomever continues to make a console the longest. After that, who knows.
I don’t like PC gaming, been there and done that. I don’t care for handhelds… Maybe I’ll end up streaming games to a TV lol.
I’d love to read an article about how people use consoles and PC, because based on my anecdotal experience, they don’t overlap as much as I would have thought. I enjoy my PC more when I play what can’t be played on consoles, and if a game is multiplatform, I’ll always go to the console version first, usually because it saves me some trouble.
Only issue with stuff like deck you’re going to miss out on AAA games . There are many PC games that are poorly optimized and can’t run on these handhelds which can cause issues. I think for pc gaming its best of both worlds but its got a pretty high entry point with stuff like GPUs not coming down in price anytime soon
What does he mean with “others will also do it”? Sony? I dont see Ninty going that route.
I’ve got my PC hooked up to my receiver in my living room right next to my XSX and PS5. It’s basically a Pro console, with a worse user experience. I use a wireless kb/mouse when necessary but use a controller for all gaming so far.
I’ve got a 4090 so if any game is technically demanding I’ll buy it on PC, windows store for games that are Play Anywhere and elsewhere for those that aren’t.
Well yes, but have you been down X Ave or OthEra St?
Alright, I’ll stop.
When this news broke I was saying honestly the best business model put your games on your platform 1 year to 16 months later put it on the others. Gaming is already going through some crazy issues with profitable.
Feels like the Sony approach with PC games is the way to go - just make it wildly inconsistent enough that people know it will probably eventually get there but they won’t hold off in case it takes longer than expected.
Not if you look at the financials of their PC releases.
I’m really not sure which way is better. If PS start releasing games on PC day and date that will have a huge impact on the sales of the consoles, just like it did with Xbox. Especially in Europe.
GoW sold well, so did Spiderman but Day 1 releases would have sold magnitudes more copies, basically everything else has sold…not great to say the least
Xbox games being available Day 1 definitely has impacted Xbox console appeal but I don’t think it’s even Xbox main issue
They just haven’t done a god job making themselves appealing, the lack of big game consistency the last 3 years alongside Playstation releasing the “bangers” and getting marketing for every big third party game and making themselves the default console has had a way bigger impact than PC imo
They’re making more money than ever
What’s that got to do with hardware?
The focus for fans is too entrenched on old metrics? It was a discussion about Day One PC and how it effects the overall platform.
I think both companies should have their games Day 1 on PC, traditional console exclusivity isn’t viable anymore, not with these budgets
My point was just that PS going to PC Day 1 probably isn’t going to hit the console as hard as it did Xbox simply because Xbox has had issues other the mentioned
This is gonna be a huge mistake. And I cant help the feeling that their still taking advantage of their fanbase who have been waiting for Xbox to finally have quality first person games, only to share them with the competitions platform. They destroy the original message. People dont forget shit like that. Especially seeing that Sony nor Nintendo will give a game in return. Just baffling decisions being made these days.
Then you’re making a good argument for no more Playstation.
Microsoft knows straight up Sony will never day 1 PC all theor games. The moment they do…it makes more sense to just buy a PC, skip paying PSN+ and Play Xbox and Playstation games at launch.
And you can also play Nintendos games…
Since Sony will never do day 1 of their games on a subscription Game Pass will always win.
If Xbox does decide to start releasing even more of their games on competitor consoles then I can only imagine it has a major eye to the future. Regulators seemed to be really hung on games releasing on other consoles and Nintendo not being in competition in the same industry.
If Xbox is planning on proving out the industry is wider and they support competition and bringing them games, so they can keep growing then I completely get it. If thats the goal then they corner themselves by doing otherwise.
Like everyone else I’m curious what he means by “others will do it too”. I’d have to imagine MLB The Show is making bank off Xbox between the Game Pass deals and MTX it has, don’t really get why both Sony and Microsoft don’t put all of their service games on everything. They both own franchises that have insane success when being put everywhere (CoD & Minecraft for MS, Destiny & MLB for Sony) and the competition in the service game space is insane. You put yourself at an immediate disadvantage if your game isn’t everywhere, you think if a group of people are looking at playing a game and Sea of Thieves or for Sony say a future game like Concord is in the discussion but one person in the group doesn’t have platform X to play one of the games, you think it’s more likely the group finds one of the million other service games available on everything or do you think one person in the group is going out and buying a $500 console or upgrading their PC. I think the first option is far more likely.
