Purchase-wise, I’d say MS is a way safer bet than Nintendo and Sony, those two can’t wait to make you re-buy the same game over and over again.
Colt is just a bad guesser, unlike Nick.
Although, In Grubb We Trust, so I think Sea of Thieves is very possible even though Grubb hasn’t confirmed that it’s definitely happening. I hear Nate is reliable too, but he didn’t say himself that the game was Hi Fi Rush.
I don’t trust anyone, because, if there is even a shred of truth, it’s always fourth-hand info, maybe months/years old which becomes 99% of the times nothing at all.
Reading the thread I see that also here Xbox was near its undoing because of the speculation of someome who doesn’t even use his real name and then the usual journous who ride along the clics wave with vague things they may have heard who knows when.
Pretty much this because many have no clue what will happen to their digital library . There’s no way PlayStation will allow it to Convert over and I doubt Microsoft would transfer licenses to windows store . I feel with many they have until this gen to build confidence or they’re going to take business elsewhere where they feel secured or not to spend $500+ on a console for timed exclusive games if it comes to that
It seems a bit exaggerated to me, the bulk of users who buy consoles doesn’t even know these things. Concerning hardcores, I’m more interested in spending less money than “console warfare”, I don’t see MS porting the big guns on PS nor Nintendo without strings attached (aka Game Pass) and we know they don’t want it.
IMO it’s mostly fud, but if it’s truee indeed, I agree with the article on the main site, it’s more trouble than it’s worth. I remember Phil Spencer almost annoyed after the Ori ports, which were more trouble than anything else (the money you make are less valuable than pr issues and/or brand perception).
I think if true it’s possible they go toned exclusive route if this is successful . Shareholders will apply pressure for other games to follow. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it because I don’t think HFR is going to get crazy enough sales to make it worth it
PS hardcores have been trained to not care about non-AAA games, Nintendo users may like it more, but we are not talking about huge revenue. As we said, it wouldn’t be worth the headache. Considering 9/10 rumours about Xbox are fud and/or malicious, I don’t believe them until proven the contrary.
Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon are the Xbox games I saw and felt PS owners want the most and would do well. If the goal is MS just want extra profits through, those would be the games. Not HFR imo, if that’s it then I would have to assume that Tango asked really hard from Beth and MS, like the way Moon did with Ori. If the case is they just want to make Tango happy and retain a healthy environment and integration, then so be it.
I’m a strong believer that people like Microsoft games but not enough to buy a console . There’s a reason why their games like state of decay, sea of thieves, forza horizon and others are usually in the steam top 100
I’ve never see a subsidiary demanding things to its mother house, it’s a strange notion.
Maybe because of the combination of internet malicious discourse, MS not really reaching its promises about constant quality releases (yet), so the desirability of their consoles is impacted. This wasn’t an issue before 2022, when they released…nothing and 2023 was a mixed bag, between Hifi and Starfield (very good) and Redfall (disaster) and Forza (incomplete, an open beta).
The solution is strenghening the brand, not dilute it, because MS can hardly say to have tried everything they could in this gen concerning the core Xbox experience.
Normally I’d agree but with the other two you never have to worry about hardware not coming or not being viable so at least there would be a chance of purchases continuing
This is what I’m thinking.
I’m also thinking that the Xbox strategy for Asia and Asian developers has to be multi-platform to some degree. At least for the Switch given its popularity there.
Playstation has been trending downward gen after gen, so that one would make less sense to me.
They can ask an present their pitch. It’s not “demand”.
I don’t think HFR is so much an “Asian” game. It’s got more cartoon vibes than anime.
I wouldn’t understand it anyway, it’s not like it would change something for them, it’s pure speculation generated from the Ori ports, which were a bad choice indeed, the pandora box is still open years later.
Moon Studios did it, then MDHR did it too and since the latter was not a game owned by Microsoft, Microsoft didn’t mind that they published it on PS too.
They weren’t subsidiaries of MS at any point. Also Cuphead was never owned by MS, Ori, like I said, was a misjedgement, they opened a door which never closed after, even with the Phil interview.
This is an important point. I feel like the “New Xbox” haven’t even gotten a chance to show its potential. It would be very strange to not see and explore what a strong first party lineup can do in the console space, it feels like a very weird time to go a different route.
Says the guy who was taking things too far.
