The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Reliable or not, taking their words over official let alone when there’s none is a strange take that I wasn’t prepared for 2024.

How do they reveal these ports, I wonder? The upcoming Nintendo Direct and State of Plays? (It’s highly likely both will have a Feb event). Random Twitter announcement that they try to quickly move past?

…One of their own shows?

That is a good question. Unless someone ask Phil when given a chance or maybe even investor call since the earning call is in two weeks before they make an announcement. One of their shows seems odd like I get some would understand, it can be seen as “tone deaf” for some, especially here saying they will throw their Xbox away. Point is, not a good choice.

How do you tell the difference between what is being discussed, and what is approved? Top executives themselves may not be sure about the path forward when important decidions must be made. It’s fine to trust rumors when there’s little at stakes (what game will be demoed at a showcase) but don’t be so sure about the company strategy. All we know is that it’s possible.

Have no issues with one or two games going to other platforms. Gamepass is the platform for me now. And it is not limited by hardware, that is a plus point for me.

I support players who feel there investment is some what devalued due to this. I don’t think this situation will improve for them, although I hope it does. Either accept it or leave.

I strongly disagree and disappointed in players who link this to devaluation of xbox and predict it’s demise in future. Stop worrying about Xbox and target your concerns at right place.

End of conversation.

people worry about the devaluation of the xbox hardware not xbox in general. And thats a valid concern. But lets see first if this rumor is true or not.

Looks like colt is on the band wagon. I hope it’s not true but if it is steam deck here I come, with PC game pass of course but no more purchases of third party software in the Xbox ecosystem.

Colt makes up crap all the time. Remember when he said Dying Light 2 was coming to Game Pass at launch. This is not a person with real sources.

I wonder how much money these accounts make from rumors like that. Who knows if Colt isn’t cashing in $200 for just tweeting “for sure, several Xbox games are going to PS5”. There is no smoke without fire, but I see a lot of conflicting information; unless Xbox is really going 3rd Party, these insiders can’t all be right, and their source doesn’t seem very reliable.

There is also the possibility Xbox is just using these rumors to gauge the responses. I’m okay with it but it really is a pandora’s box that they need to be ready for if it is indeed true. The media for one will keep on them framing the news in a way that hurts them. Just look at how they’ve hounded Starfield.

I think like someone said Jason is the only known insider to be certain of and it seems he hasn’t pitched in.

Colt knows nothing. Most likely jumping on the bandwagon

Yeah, just before E3 2021 he and his clique were running with the ‘26 is the new 23’ nonsense.

He certainly does also looking at the Xbox one there were very few exclusives. The only games I could see other than GAAS games are games like RYSE, RECORE, SUNSET OVERDRIVE, Quantum Break and ORI. I also think Nate was talking about ORI for PS5 not Hi-FI Rush.

I don’t follow the online discourse outside few trusted sources because of the insanity of rumours and leaks. Last year I was member in a board which the one and only topic was the “secret ps showcase” after the bad one in june.

This one in particular imo is malicious and directly timed to ruin the developer direct perception. It doesn’t help that many supposed xbox youtubers and internet personalities ride on the topic for engagements and clics, a very bad look imo.

What’s “'26 is the new '23”?

Microsoft had 23 first party studios and they were saying that 3 more acquisitions were about to be announced LOL.

It was a rumor that Microsoft had acquired studios taking their total to 26

Ah! Yeah Colt has always been a joke.

This, I don’t think anyone out there that isn’t some concern troll worries for Xbox’s future in general going forward

They are setting themselves up to be the biggest publisher on the planet and have the IPs to do it but Xbox hardware is a very different story

It’s extremely likely that we will at the very least get one more gen of dedicated xbox hardware but based on the rumored news it’s perfectly understandable why people would be worried about it’s future in the long term, as well as all the purchases and investment they have in them
