The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

They’ve reassured me enough that I’ll continue mainly buying my games on Xbox. With that said, I will absolutely be doubling up on my favorites on PlayStation, just in case.

Its very clear more games will probably be ported to other consoles. I have no problem with this, they just need to make that clear. We’ll see how that pans out.

I still have many questions, but they’ve satisfied me enough for now.

It was reassuring, while I think these 4 games will still be a test bed for the future. I also think that Microsoft won’t go full 3rd party until Sony is ready to do so as well, because I doubt Sony is going to stop with the money hats anytime soon.

Now to buy that Persona 3 Reloaded DLC and test out how OP Atlus made Satanael.

If it were able to access my Steam library (I have around 200 games there) and access my Xbox library (Series, One, 360, OG purchases) it would be the ultimate, but it all comes back to how MS feels about Steam being available on their device.

I mean a lot of the stuff is already backwards compatible on the Xbox at least. So you wouldn’t really need to do anything other than just make available to play on Gamepass.

They def need more console sales to grow subscribers. I think PC is too much at a point of Steam or bust and many don’t view xbox store has a viable storefront.

Gonna be an interesting few years ahead

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on what they end up bringing now and in the future to other platforms. I hope that handheld is real because I’d definitely be interested in that and it’s nice to hear the plans for GP haven’t changed.

Absolutely. And Phil saying what he said about Starfield and IJ shows that. Although I can’t see those two being announced for PS5 anytime soon.

Did anyone post this?

I want to go back to something you mentioned in the FTC v. Microsoft case. You testified that putting Xbox games on PlayStation means that Sony uses that 30 percent of revenue that they get from those transactions to try to basically kill Xbox or undermine Xbox in certain ways. So why would you want to do more games on that platform if that’s the case?

Maybe this is why we’re doing four [laughs]. I’m going to learn about our partnership with other platforms. I’m going to learn about what happens with our players. I think it will benefit the games that we’re putting there and that’s a good thing for us, and if we can use other platforms that have gamers and maybe some of those gamers don’t want to play it on PC and don’t want to play on Xbox and that can help us grow our business, I think that’s great. If the net result is that other things are punitive to the Xbox platform and try to limit our growth, then we’ll have to think more carefully about how we support those other platforms.

Yes, it was posted. Not going to stop people who think EVERYTHING is going multiplat though.

It could very well be the case that the number of people who were in gold and convert to game pass is low :person_shrugging:

The week taught me that neither xbox’s nor Sony’s business model, as they are currently, are sustainable for the future and thats why both of them are/will changing how they operate. Xbox is doing it now, lets see what PS does.

The biggest Xbox exclusive truly is Game Pass. Good to see that commitment also with CoD. However, I wish they had been a bit clearer about the value of singleplayer exclusives. That Spencer interview published alongside the show was pretty indecisive yet again. Not sure Hi-Fi Rush is a good choice either. It’s such a stellar critical darling and I feel it means more than just “has no more growth potential.“ I am totally fine with Sea of Thieves, Grounded and I actually think they should also bring Killer Instinct everywhere. But I will say that this does feel like a test balloon and the outcomes are unclear.

It was good to hear them talk about cross-save and cross-progression so much.

Overall, I think I‘m heading PC at some point and then these things don‘t matter for me anymore anyway (outside of perhaps console-only savegames I can‘t transfer), but I‘m not quite there yet because I like playing on my console too much.

There is a big difference that Xbox has a lot of successful GaaS and PlayStation trying to catch up to it.
