The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Probably lessons learned from the Zenimax drop. Staggering the releases would probably have given some of the games more engagement.

Yeah, they’re probably holding them for weak months

True I guess for this update. It’s been months since they closed though. So it’s not like they haven’t had time at some point to address this, and it’ll keep coming up at every Xbox thing until plans are known. :person_shrugging:

Overall, not bad. Really interested in seeing the 10 games/expansions for 2024 especially since almost all of them is in the second half of the year.

Listened real good to Sarah and she was hammering home that Gamepass and the ecosystem will be their main “exclusives” going forward. I will rock out with Xbox for the remainder of this gen. Depending on how the rest of the gen plays out I will be either getting the new box or fulltime PC gamer.

Still looking forward to June though so let’s go!

Maybe it is just going slow, but it feels like lawyers lswtering here (do not say anything). Even if the FTC is an oitside chance its not zero.

We’ll see I guess. I’m not saying it’ll happen necessarily, but it all cycles back to the Diablo talk not being a direct confirmation the 34 million number doesn’t include Core users (even if that is the case).

People on social media port begging for Xbox games doesn’t affect me or my enjoyment of the console in the slightest.

They even reiterated in the podcast that exclusives are still a fundamental part of their business strategy.

The denial can go both ways. It’s funny how this works.

Game discussion and discourse on social media is a lost cause anyway. Outside of a couple of posts I don’t engage in it as much as I used to and if it weren’t for this forum I’d probably stop altogether.

His analogy of Xbox wanting kong alive is perfect.

Xbox wants PlayStation around for the cash. If you’re in a console warrior mentality you can’t see the wood for the trees.

They timed the podcast perfectly following PlayStations financials their CEO making a statement about multiplatform was the cherry on top.

Exclusives are slowly going away and playstation stating they want focus harder on PC was great PR.

Yes they can be that talk about will games come to PlayStation but it’ll always be a year at least so long as Xbox keep smashing good games out on a regular basis that will create FOMO from PlayStation players that might consider a second console or PC sub or steam purchase then if not they’ll get the money from selling it on PC.

It’s exactly the same as PlayStation money hatting games if you really want something now you do what you have to do. Xbox just have to create the FOMO

I thought it was done perfectly they hit the console sales aren’t growing so the console warriors can’t keep lauding it over people

I didnt say much since these rumors started but I did say some negative stuff so if it bothered anyone im sorry. That being said im not sure how I feel about this. I dont want them to bring any games over to ps but it is what it is. I liked the commitment to hardware. I was surprised to here sara said its gonna be the biggest leap ever because i was expecting them to take a back seat on power. I think they were talking about that on the era podcast last weekend. I dont think the brand is going away but its changing and im not sure how I feel about that but I think xbox is gonna be ok. I feel like they should of jumped on this sooner to prevent the outrage but it seems a lot of insiders were wrong including those here.

It’s a game that they are currently working on, so it makes sense to have the GamePass addition work added to their queue. As opposed to getting developers back into the code-base to do changes on “cold” / “finished” games.

That Game Pass number is everyone, Live had shrunk a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was people shifting to regular game pass and/or GPU

Yeah makes sense, Gold had a lot of subs but had less and less very quickly after GP grew every year

In other news, Timdog is back on board after his 2 week long meltdown.

With Sony possibly coming with next gen sooner than expected, and MS rumored too…i wonder if we could see next gen in 2026. I am definitely curious about their next console, damn.

I think it’ll be very interesting to see how Sea of Thieves and Grounded do on other platforms. I think SoT with crossplay could be very interesting as well, especially if they lean into it. Imagine bringing the console war to the high seas.

That’s what I figured. So either Diablo IV is going into the curated list of games for IV or they didn’t fully think out that statement and just combined “Diablo IV is coming to gamepass” and “we now have 34 million subscribers.”
