Late stage capitalism will be the thing that finally ends platform wars

Console wars are truly over lol! What a time to be alive.

I wonder what the Xbox doesn’t treat console players as a priority dudes are going to do now? Go to Nintendo?

The moment PS put one game to another platform, the whole console war will end and there will be leftovers who can’t move on.

It’s all very odd.

Sony struggling, Xbox here to help them out. Basically, lmfao. Can’t make this shit up. Both should be helping each other out, for a change that be nice.

I’d love that to be them going multi-platform so I can play Spider Man 2 on my Series X, but unfortunately I read his “computer” bit as meaning they may go Day1 on PC.

Live service games I think they’ll release on Xbox though (as they have already suggested with Concord) just as Xbox will do too, in order to maximise players

So I can play Nintendo games where?

Wish it wasn’t only Spencer that saw it that way. Case by case basis could be so good, if it worked both ways.

Sony is just slowly gonna adopt what Microsoft did years ago. Sony internally admit it’s the way. I hope that means that the coming decisions from Xbox about multiplatform releasing is the same case and comes from the same strategic stream and Sony will also eventually adopt it, without it hurting Xbox in the meantime.

Haha, you did it, you found the weird negative angle! The actual objective one would be “ah, this is why Xbox is pivoting. The old system simply isn’t working anymore”

Yes, their social media team is not doing that.

They play best emulated on a pc

On PC too

Do we get why Xbox is shifting strategies now? I’ve been in here talking about PlayStation/Sony’s dire financial outlook for weeks. The old system is broken, and only works for Nintendo as they have a rabid fanbase that buy up tons of software and are ok with weak hardware.

It’s not a weird negative angle if it’s a one way street. We’ve gone over already what happens when console sales dry up, then third party does. Sure if Sony put their games on Xbox it will help but that’s very unlikely to happen.

Under old management, maybe. Under new management? He wants their games everywhere, and f2p gaas stuff needs that. There is no reason to think they wouldn’t eventually do it, because they’re bleeding terribly right now and it’s the only way to pivot.

If Sony games start hitting Xbox too, I would have 0 problems with Xbox going full multiplatform. It would be amazing for gaming.

But it looks like Sony will continue to port games to PC, with no mention of other consoles.

But at least the meltdown that some cultists are having with these news is funny. Some are asking for a Jim Ryan return lol

Told you all. Cloud is a necessity for the HD market to survive. Its all up to Xbox now.

It’s funny, while MS is doing Sony a favor tomorrow, it feels like Sony did the same today, with the so low profits even when they are doing record revenue numbers, and with the comments from the new president talking about being more agressive on PC ports (Spiderman 2 in 2024 for PC already is my bet, once Nixxes manages to catch up with old ports, the 2 year gap is gone).

I think this results from today will be commented a lot after tomorrow’s podcast to help us understand what’s going on on the console industry overall, MS’s decission will be easier to understand.

Totally unexpected from my side i gotta say, i thought Sony would do some great numbers and people would say it’s the way to go, people was saying Sony had to go back to only AAA single player games when Factions got cancelled, now it seems clear again that they need some GaaS to get constant money from first party studios

It seems like things will drastically change in the gaming landscape on the next couple years. It’s clear that the current model isn’t sustainable at all, so if things don’t change very quickly a new crash will happen.
