Wouldnt now be the time to release bad news? Its like that company that emailed the higher ups to release bad news of the company as 9/11 just happened and it would dominate the news instead.
I can imagine them writing an email with a large paragraph blank that can be inserted either “Therefore we will release Halo and other franchises on other platforms,” or “exclusives are what made this platform special.” It all lies on tonight’s game. I don’t know what time they’re going for, but yeah.
Just casually browsing TikTok and a video popped up saying “Xbox exclusives coming to PlayStation”.
3 million views and 400K likes lol.
Mind you I follow 0 gaming related stuff on there. the misinformation is real out here
If Mr Taylor Swift gets a touchdown we will release Flight Simulator on PS5
49ers baby!!!
The brand perception has been damaged too much, even if only Hi Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves are the only games this year to be released on other platforms, it will be enough to keep the mainstream talking about this (like now).
That’s my worry - in the UK it feels like kids get a Switch, then when they’re old enough they get a PlayStation, it’s happened with all the younger generation in my family and their friends.
I’m still under 40 but I’m almost ancient in their eyes being an Xbox fan - and I’ve noticed everyone I know with an Xbox is over 30 and is nostalgic for the 360 glory days.
So letting this fester for a week might not seem too bad to adults, but with YouTube and TikTok the younger generation will be seeing wilder and wilder rumours as the influencers battle for views, and that younger generation is the one Xbox desperately needs - instead they’re seeing “Xbox is dead” and “Xbox games are coming to PlayStation” (the subtext being might as well just get a PlayStation)
No it hasn’t
TBH I dont think most of the casuals (which are the majority of the market) still know what’s going on.
I mentioned the other day that a friend of mine which regularly plays on his Series X had no idea.
Thats why some of us are saying Xbox’s disastrous handling a comunication is damaging the brand beyond repair. I still think they can “repair” and even make the brand stronger if they manage kill it in this bussiness event (lets say, the do a parternship with apple and officialy intruduce an xbox app on IOS) but for that they need to do a lot of things and I dont know how deep/grand they will go.
It’s just the bubble.
There are a lot of people talking about this out there who don’t usually talk about Xbox, implying that everything is a fact. Even if Phil comes tomorrow and says they’ll have exclusives, a lot of people will have the wrong idea. I have seen people who know about this and not that Microsoft acquired Activision…
Realistically, if only the young generation follows this crap (let’s be honest, if you follow tiktok and take your news from there imo you have a problem as it isn’t reliable nor fact checked), then there isn’t too much to worry as people aged 7 to 18 only account for around 20% of console users anyway.
Also, could be a PLaystation unfluencer’s account so of course that’d skew the numbers considering they’re the ones who would be happy with this sort of news.
I think when casual sees Halo on PS5 on store shelf, that’s when they will question and probably do what you guys considering to do depending on the event. Games like Hi-Fi will be life goes on for casuals.
When local news start widespreading things like “could halo come to PS5” yep, I agree. Even here in Colombia it was reported that “the console wars were over” and why Xbox games will start appearing in PS (even if some parts are not totally true).
They either go big or go home in this event.
Yeah I think I saw a comment here a few days ago saying that this hasn’t really reached the mainstream but what I’ve seen on social media tells me otherwise, this has reached a lot of people for sure who aren’t casuals but those people are likely already locked in the PlayStation ecosystem or just not interested in Xbox so this changes nothing in the grand scheme of things for Xbox, it has lost that mainstream interest years ago, at least outside of NA and the UK but even in those markets the numbers suggest that it won’t even reach the Xbox One and that’s just not good.
Yeah the youngest Xbox fans I know (USA) are usually in their mid to late 20s, for example many of my cousins were big 360 fans growing up, we’re all mid to late 20s now but my younger cousins who were just kids last gen and are now 18-22 are all on PlayStation and Switch, one thing I’ve always noticed is that the Switch is almost in every home where there’s an Xbox or PlayStation lol, great companion console and great for the kids, but yeah I definitely agree with you here, I don’t know if there’s much they can do to get back to the 360 glory days though, I think they had that chance still last gen and dropped the ball hard.
It’s all anecdotal. You simply do not and cannot know for sure.
Well no shit. But if that’s your reponse why is this thread open?
No point talking about brand damage until we see what’s actually announced at the event, what’s with the 15 minute posts though? It was bad enough at 2 minutes, makes engaging in the site horrible
Why does anyone keep replying when there is no actual news?
I’m assuming folks are passing time until The Puppy Bowl or Superb Owl coverage starts.
