I agree they definitely have a communication problem, however there was definitely a lot of fake FUD being thrown around for clicks and engagement, more so than usual.
Although part of that is due to their communication issues just as much seemed to be feeding off it for their own gratification.

If it’s just SoT and HFR I’m sure there will still be people in general that will say it’s just a matter of time. And who knows, maybe it is. Like Tom says, nothing is set in stone.
For all we know all the rumors we heard are things that have been considered, and who knows what plans they might have for the future. Then again, shit can have been easily made up too.

I think communicating is difficult when you have a non-standard strategy, though they could do better.
I think the general feelings of console players feeling de-peioritized plays a pretty big role in the sentiment as well.

I really hope the “event” is more than just talking about whats multiplat and whats not because that would be dissapointing to me. Go big or go home I think it would be a waste to talk about just that when all eyes are on you next week.

I feel like Xbox and Microsoft went into the President’s bunker status to discuss about the possible next move. I don’t know when they will announce the event, but only time will tell. Perhaps insiders only got halted on the detail they acquired and maybe told by leaker or even Microsoft staff member about the situation alas NDA in some sense. I’m going to write one long post before enjoying the weekend.

Agreed, and nobody at Xbox ever denied them, something they would’ve done if they weren’t real at all, all we have is a tweet by Phil about some business event next week and “the new strategy” is also true so something is clearly happening, we just don’t know what yet… stopping rumors of this magnitude before they spread and do damage is something that shouldn’t be too hard for them but it still happens.

I find this whole situation be a s*** show on both sides on Xbox community and even that game community itself. But it also really tells me that all people don’t know how business works or how certain corporations work. This is a Microsoft issue and it feels like the past week they’ve been battling it out and then next week we’re going to see who side one and in the day.
I like how all the insiders that spread the bullshit rumors are acting like they weren’t the cause for the hysteria. They know they were spreading bullshit for engagement

I’ve been just catching up on some of the rumors after a few days of not really paying attention, it looks like we’ve gone full circle and it’s back to just Hi-Fi and SoT? Even if it’s just those games I don’t know if they can fully reel people back in. The rumors that were going around spread pretty far and caused a lot of outrage and went on for a decently long time, I’m really curious to see how they communicate this to the community.
On another note while not really related to this thread, I’ll have my eye on that rumored handheld if that’s really a thing, depending on how this whole thing turns out.

Apparently, Klob was thrown into the mix and had to course correct. The one thing I can’t stand is dragging someone to the mix that has no business. Hell, Klob didn’t even need to do this.

It won’t be just about HFR and SOT, it should be clarifying their strategy. Likely with an emphasis on their plans for multiplatform releases. Pretty sure this is a response to the leaks not a planned information relelase/marketing beat.
I think it’s a good thing that it leaked. Might curb whatever strategies they tried to push this year.

I played AC Mirage and Avatar via Ubisoft+.
Now it sounds like it’s ONLY Hi Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves which makes no sense to me because if you’re Microsoft and you want to have growth and sell more copies, Rush as great as it is isn’t going to sell tens of millions of copies and while I can see Sea of Thieves getting maybe 10m or so players on PlayStation, in my mind, it’s like, either go full third party or don’t give Sony/Nintendo anything outside of what we already know which is Minecraft and COD.
Just doesn’t make any sense but whatever. Either way, I just want the meeting next week to be open, up front, honest, crystal clear and consistent. That’s all im asking for. I hate this bullshit with every game of “will it” or “won’t it” be exclusive. It’s fucking annoying and even more so when it’s only Microsoft and Xbox.
