The “TvTvTv” thing was an additive experience similar to the DVD drive in the PS2 and the BluRay drive in the PS3. The only real difference was how they were marketing it. It’s not like they didn’t make a gaming console, they just thought it would be cool to give people even more with their entertainment device, which as it turns out is exactly what people wanted.
The reason the Xbox One failed was because they released a console that was less powerful and $100 more expensive than than their competitor while also trying to push to get rid of used games. Essentially, they pissed off the gaming media and nerds and they never recovered. There are a host of other reasons as well, but I won’t get into those.
The focus that everyone puts on the “TvTvTv” aspect has always felt lazy to me in the same way that “Xbox has no gamez” does.
The most baffling thing is that they’re disappointed with the lack of growth considering they havent given customers aka casuals a consistent release of must play games. This highlights the real issue with MS. They’re enterprise oriented just looking at numbers, little knowledge of how this industry works, what causes growth with consumers. You just can’t create any content and expect to reach your internal metrics. If it ain’t growing and bringing in new customers it’s because your content isn’t appealing enough to them. Maybe instead of shifting strategy again you actually address this issue first? The audacity and delusion they must have to be disappointed with the lack of growth when they barely released AAA games for over 2 years now. Redfall, Starfield and Forza. None set the world on fire. I’m just baffled by this above all else.
Whilst I like that you’re trying to give balance so please don’t take this as a slight
People are and should be allowed to express their opinions & assumptions of what is rumoured to be happening.
It’s a forum at the end of the day. If people have jumped the gun so be it but I think you can be allowed to vent your frustrations at the thought and likelyhood of rumours becoming reality
I personally understand the frustrations not because I’m a hardcore loyalist Xbox guy. I own a ps5 switch & Xbox, but I do find it frustrating that Xbox seemingly can’t help but halt any momentum they get going.
Perception is everything in this game.
It’s not about what is true and what isn’t .
And if there’s a company in gaming that can find a way to be perceived badly in gaming it’s Xbox, they always seem to find a way
Yes, you can state them. You then open yourselves up to responses. This is the same as always. Being upset does not make one immune from people replying to your words.
I haven’t stated that people shouldn’t be allowed to respond. I just feel one tends to be looked down upon & I don’t that necessarily fair.
If someone wants to vent be frustrated cool fine with me vent away.
If someone wants to post disagreeing cool disagree all you like
But not in a way looked at like you’re some wild fanboy for doing so.
There are plenty that are too close to the hardcore gaming bubble on both sides in my opinion. Some will accept anything others will go off the deep end. It’s a forum if everyone agreed it wouldn’t be much of one. It’d be like resetera I imagine
It’s a public forum, if you post something you open yourself up to responses. As long as the responses aren’t insulting or against the rules in some way you can’t just demand that people don’t vehemently disagree.
this take is ridiculous and false to certain degrees. Forza is still VERY much a staple in the Xbox portfolio and still very much a favorite among racing fans. Starfield still killed it an won numerous awards despite the hate campaign against it. Not to mention set a new prcedent for Xbox as a whole.
Redfall, you may be right on.
HiFi rush is a PHENOMINAL game and is a brand new franchise for the platform. in fact, last year was arguably their strongest year ever in the name of new releases, and Gamepass was a massive cherry on top with praiseworthy releases almost every other wee, it seemed.
To also say they dont understand the business is also patently false. This doesnt excuse the alleged rumors and definitley doesnt mean they dont make mistakes but, they KNOW this industry very well. They understand the in’s and out’s, they understand gaming (generally speaking) and they have the ability to have great foresight into what the next big trend is.
This doesnt mean that they know how to capitalize on every avenue though. None of the Big 3 are great at executing EVERY avenue in gaming. But Microsoft, out of all of them, is the one who struggles to master the most important.
On Microsoft’s rumors, we can’t comment, but they’re going to decide what is best for them. What you have to look at is that anyway Activision Blizzard used to be multiplatform, so it would have an impact, but not a huge impact on the industry.
Considering Xbox has COD marketing rights in perpetuity, and these large publishers have hundreds if not thousands of games in development for Xbox who in their right mind thought they would stop supporting the platform? lol
When next week do you guys think the business update event will be? Also, do you think it would be an article, a video presentation, or a discussion kind of thing (like a round table of the leadership or possibly an interview format)?
My guess is just a brief video presentation given by one or two persons (probably Phil) on Tuesday.
