Buddy is obsessed with posting that pic of Sarah Bond in front of that exclusivity announcement. You all should really just chill until the official announcement.
You’re still not getting it, bro. If one of the new games that have released recently or one of the bigger AAA games that have come out the Xbox camp goes over to Sony and/or Nintendo, how confident are you as an Xbox fan in the games that are announced to hit the console, that those games will STAY on the platform? Exclusives are what make fans feel 1st class in any of the three ecosystems. Games you can find nowhere else. There’s a certain kind of satisfaction that comes with KNOWING the 1st party games are meant for you as a fan of the brand. YOU! Not you [right now] then everyone else, too. Thats bullshit. I can understand with 3rd party games, but 1st party??
And how long have we all waited and believed in Microsoft to finally start delivering the games? The turn around from Xbox One to the Series console has been nothing short of staggering with the amount of first party content and developers under the Xbox umbrella. The brand is now in the strongest position its EVER been.
But now that we are finally here, they are allegedly saying, “we think now is a good time to dump the original vision for our fans and, instead, try to bring in as many gamers as possible from all platforms by sacrificing our vision, promises and, most importantly THE FANS to try and sell a few more copies of our games!”
I’m not supporting Xbox developers to port 1st party games to other consoles. They aren’t using me to beta test Xbox games out for Playstation or Nintendo. I didn’t sign up for that, bitch! Lol
I signed up for great exclusive games on the platform that cant be found anywhere else. Hell yeah there’s a certain pride in knowing I chose a product that values me and my hard earned money by providing me with banger games that speak to me on the product I bought. The more they adhere to my needs as a consumer, the more loyalty I have for the company and will continue to invest in the software and hardware. if they change the script on that, I’m out. Clearly I’m no longer that important to you. And that’s cool.
Please dont be offended when I abandon your product and your company to find another that will value me as a consumer. Exclusives are the nature of the beast. it is what it is…
I haven’t been waiting, they’ve given me more than I could play through 1st party and game pass over the last 4 or 5 years. Exclusives are a stupid nature of an old beast, you as a customer would benefit greatly from them no longer existing. Still, we have no clue what the future will bring and people need to stop spiraling down more and more as they overthink this hobby.
Agree with this. If this is money driven, its insulting for a $3T company to try to drum up more cash by effectively surrending arms vs a company that is worth 150B, that is also struggling, yet still finding enough spare change to stop their games going beyond PC and Playstation.
Agree with this too…but the fact is neither Sony or Nintendo are going to give Xbox anything in return so Xbox only players gain absolutely nothing.
Like Phil said, Sony is going to get a hefty 30% of whatever they give them only to make the Xbox product worse by funding more timed or full exclusives.
Someone said it here before, a few days ago. It would be nice if the update isn’t only bad news, but some good stuff thrown in there too. Why does only Xbox “have” to give and not get? If the update is only about shit going to their beloved competitor Sony…well, that would be a shame. It would be nice if they worked out a deal with Sony, you want Sea of Thieves? We also get a older Sony game in return then. But it apparently doesn’t work that way.
Hopefully Monday we hear it.
We have no clue what is going to be said, don’t assume it’s just “bad news” for you
The problem is that you think that the vision was to deprive some gamers to play their games. The problem is that you think you will feel better if someone else do not play the games you are given to play. That is not their vision at large. I agree that Sony is playing bad the exclusivity game, but this is not because Sony is dirty that we should be the same. Xbox had always a bigger vision, they may fail because of it, but at least there is some dignity into it.
Oh I didn’t mean it that way perse, I’d love to get some good news too but to be safe I just assume…the worst. But I’d love for them to surprise me.
True. And I’d be in full support of exclusivity no longer existing, but that would go for all three then. Xbox would get all Nintendo and Sony games, Nintendo would get all Xbox and Sony games, and Sony would get all Nintendo and Xbox games.
You only need one console, so those that prefer Xbox ecosystem get an Xbox, or a PS or a Switch.
I wonder if we’re ever gonna see this becoming reality in console gaming. Some people say it would not work, I don’t see why not.
I dont know about bad news but I would like to see whats their plan with hardware, software, cloud, mobile, ABK, Zenimax, marketing, expansion, PC app, gamepass, future of the brand, partners…etc.
If all they talk about clarification about whats exclusive and what not then, to me, that is a bad presentation. Things have to change because they are not doing well with current plans.
There is no problem in the way I think. Exclusives drive console and subscription service sales. my boy. Thats it! You only have to look at Sony and Nintendo to see how successful they are. They sell tens of millions of consoles and software every year. Obviously theyre doing something right!
And as someone else mentioned, this is only Xbox putting their games elsewhere. We dont and, more importantly WE WON’T see either company returning the favor. Youve got a coule parroting in this very thread that exclusives are “bad”. If its that bad, why aren’t Sony and Nintendo jumping on the “New Xbox” bandwagon? Why aren’t they so adamant to share their games on competing platforms like Xbox? I see them going after PC but that’s essentially a new direction for them and they still aren’t putting day and date 1st party games on there either.
The only way this could work is if Sony and Nintendo felt the same way and offered some of their first party games to Xbox so Xbox gamers can benefit, too. But this new strategy ONLY benefits Microsoft, so they look weak.
Sure! Take Starfield, HiFi, Indie, Gears, Halo, FH, Forza, Fable and others. We’d like, GoW, Zelda, Metroid, Uncharted, and a couple dozen others I done forgot. Thats fair!
Microsoft needs to market their brand, hardware and software better. Thats a big problem in my opinion. They arent very good at it. Never really have been. As they learn to market better, keep slinging out the quality games. I’d bet the farm they’d see a massive turn around for the consoles and the brand as a whole.
But this, THIS is not the way… It will do more harm than good,
There’s no dignity or noble cause at play with Xbox.
They’re solely doing this because they lost at the traditional way of things and had to pivot. We don’t have to window dress it.
People can agree or disagree with Xbox’s strategy but don’t make it a moral thing lol.
Agreed. Some details on their plans for hardware in the (somewhat near) future would be welcome, but I’m not sure we should be expecting that here. Then again, Phil Spencer did say future of Xbox, it’s certainly not out of the question.
Wonder if it will be a video or just a long, detailed written article.
Satya is very against exclusivity, but I’m sure he has realised that Nintendo (they recently said about how important it actually is for them) and Sony don’t agree with that. So I hope he’s not like…even though you guys don’t do it, we will. And then hoping for the best.
But at the end of the day, what do I know? Maybe that strategy will work out for them and hopefully, especially for their hardware too, which has seen better days.
I really just think…and you can see from TimDog and Klobrille and many others that its simply a step too far and the final straw.
- Microsoft buys Minecraft? What an incredible system seller! Nope. Well that was because it was already out on PS3 right? Nope, ported to PS4 and Switch (and Vita and Wiiu). Meanwhile, Steller Blade was cancelled for Xbox.
- Microsoft buys Gears of War from Epic? Exclusive right? No…also on PC…but we got over that…and now Gears 6/Trilogy is “being considered”
- Microsoft buys 9 studios from 2018-2019? Well it will take a while to deliver, but they will 100% be exclusive right? Well…no, not Psychonauts 2 because of GoFundMe and…at this point who knows? Rumors around Hellblade 2 coming to PS5 are rife.
- Microsoft buys Zenimax. OMG…we just need to wait out year long exclusivity contracts on Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo…but Hi Fi Rush and Starfield…no that got delayed. But now its here and…its rumored for PS5.
- Microsoft buys ABK…OMG CONSOLE WARS OVER. LET US HAVE COMPETITION! Well the King stuff will always be on Google and IOS…but Call of Duty…oh snap, no…never going to be exclusive for 10 years…and now its even less exclusive by coming to Switch.
Its just one thing after another. Im not surprised the superfans finally snapped.
They didn’t even failed the “traditional way”, they lost badly when they tried something different (tvtvtv), that’s the irony. Pivoting company strategy every couple of years is never a good sign. The thing which amazes me is they are saying since many years “you don’t need an Xbox”, but now you need a PS or Switch. That’s why fans would not forgive them, deceptive messagging.
This is just… come on. Be better
Interested to know what youd define as a superfan? What makes them super?
Free dinners with some Xbox heads ? Beats me lol.
I didn’t mean it in any negative sense. Klobrilles a nice guy with a public persona. Yet these rumors have shaken him. He and other Xbox centric community members, that stuck with brand even since Xbox One plopped up in 2013 are now on the fence with the possibility that these rumors are true.
Thats how strongly they are against it. I just hope Xbox listens.
they are against an idea, we need to see what the reality ends up being
Yes, we all just need to wait. (C’mon, we are Xbox fans it’s what we do best)
If shit hits the fan next week, we can all freak out together.
