Nah, that would have been news
Again, you’re missing the bigger picture here. This news will spread. Hardcore fans are usually the loudest. Once things begin going left, it’ll be the hardcore fanboys who will respond first, then they’ll spread the message far and wide. If you’re thinking the backlash will only happen online, think again. It’ll spread from the online rhetoric to the casuals. You must not understand how fickle and toxic gamers can be. You’ll see…
If these rumors are true, I guarantee you’ll see happen exactly what I’m telling you now. I’ve been a gamer damn near all my life and follow the gaming industry and community closely. This wont end well if the rumors are true.
Well, 10 years ago the backlash from not being able to resell Xbox games hurt them, but now they’re preparing to kill disc drives as well, meaning no more used games and the backlash is very minor.
While I 100% agree this is dumb for the Xbox console and a slap in the face to fans, between making Xbox the Zeitgeist centre of Call of Duty, releasing Xbox games on their mobile, they will likely gain more users than they lose.
There are, have not been, and will not be any “slaps in the face” for fans.
People who say things like this are beginning to annoy me, tbh. As if there isn’t some product or service that you’ve invested hundreds if not thousands of dollars into, and if it were to suddenly shift the core of business, you yourself would be calm and relaxed about it. Thats legit bullshit, bro. Just keeping things copacetic.
I know I’ve bought thousands of dollars worth of software for this ecosystem and I’m not very happy about this rumor that’s going around. I’m not going to sell my Xbox, no. I’ll keep it and the games I’ve bought up to this point until next gen. But next gen for sure I’ll definitely purchase the next Playstation because I’m not a huge fan of a company that suddenly decides to change the gameplan just to line their pockets. It’s a slap to the face and shows me as a consumer that this company could literally give a rats ass about my loyatly and enjoyment of the brand.
Now I know that people are going to say that “its unhealthy” to be that invested and the company never cared about you. Let me set a line there, too: without the fans and consumers who have bought into the vision for Xbox at Microsoft, there is no brand. There is no Microsoft. They don’t exist without us. Period. This relationship between consumers and manufacturer/publishers is a lot closer than many may think. These MFs aren’t getting their money from 100 acres of money trees in the backyard at Microsoft. They’ve become wealthy because CONSUMERS invest in their products and services. in the process, there is a trust contract that’s been broken since this whole thing has come about.
Its a tough pill to swallow to imagine this new Xbox is suddenly going to start giving out 1st party games that we as loyal Xbox consumers have been waiting for, for decades. But we won’t be the only one’s who will have to swallow that pill. And Microsoft will get the worst of this thing if any of the recourse is anything to go by. The fate of Xbox is directly tied to its fanbase. If they slap us in the face with this foolery, we jump ship and leave them to sink. Its the business relationship that’s in play right now.
Do you know this or just guessing?
I know a lot of people will be upset about “exclusive to where game pass exists” and Aaron Greenberg assuring us Starfield wasnt just timed exclusive will 100% feel betrayed if those things dont hold true.
A few things to note:

(1) They aren’t ready to speak on this (suggesting the leaks weren’t the “plan”);
(2) This is most certainly not a blanket denial (suggesting there’s at least some truth to the rumors)… https://t.co/r5wzTnjbBg
Also of note todayAs you’ll see in that video, I think the fact that @XboxP3 is making the statement at all is suggestive of the fact that this isn’t the apocalypse (Philover, etc.) some fear.

The overall tone of the message is, of course: pic.twitter.com/Fo8oTlKs86
Microsoft says "the FTC ignores the reality that the deal itself has substantially changed" and that "Sony and Microsoft signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation on even better terms than Sony had before." Yes, because outside of them literally walking into your house and taking a shit on your floor the “slap in the face” line is ridiculous. You’re a fan of a product, it’s their job to sell it to you. If they don’t you stop spending money on it, that’s it.
False. And a short sighted retort. No offense. (baring these rumors are true)
We’re a fan of the product because they give the customers what they want. Its not just selling a product here ( Jesus thats short sighted) its the vision that was sold to us decades ago. And now that the vision is coming to fruition, their just gonna change tracks and wreck all the good will and trust they’ve built with their fanbase and the brand? Hell No!
They WILL be held accountable. And people will not only speak with their thoughts and opinion online and out in the wild, they’ll speak with their wallets by keeping them shut, or simply going elsewhere to a more “stable” vision and product.
It is still an Xbox exclusive until they say otherwise
They have said and done nothing. I’ll care more once they have
I believe Nate has dialed it back suggesting that Starfield is a mistake or not correct. But if they promised that there wouldn’t be an “otherwise” and now it turns out there is, I can’t legitimately believe there was no misleading.
Lol
@Sydle posts shows that MS has been cooking something behind the scenes for a while so lets see whats their plan next week but this is not “shift” that happened in just a matter of months.
Yeh i m not happy about all this but i kinda knew in the back of my head that it was always a serious possibilty. I really dont wamna leave the xbox ecosystem so i m hoping the shift wont be too bad. As i have 0 interest in a ps or their games i would be forced to go pc and i d like to avoid that. Did some thinking and i guess i gotta draw the line somewhere. If i see any forza, gears of war,or halo go multiplat i m 100 pct gone. Same thing if they dont do day and date gp releases. So if ms avoids those things i d be willing to stay. Thats not too much too ask is it?
“no, you’re asking for too much” - some posters in here, probably
I mean, if you have bought PS3 games digitally, you today cannot play them on your PS5 while I can still play OG Xbox games in digital format or disc format on my Series X, so I’d say Microsoft has a much more stable vision, plus the fact there are over 300 games available as Play Anywhere that would still be yours if, out of nowhere, MS pulled the plug on the XBox console (which won’t happen). If Sony would cut support tomorrow, you have no similar failsafes to your software, so I’d say MS has been much more consumer friendly in their approach.
Even if all ABK and Bethesda games released on PS5 and only XGS games stayed exclusive, and from what we are hearing now the leaks were greatly exaggerating everything, you’d still get Xbox consoles, you’d still get exclusives, and the most bang for your buck thanks to the availability of games as well as Gamepass.
I feel like if it’s not that bad and it’s just hifi rush and sea of thieves they still have plans down the line to bring everything over and they just backtracked due to backlash from fans.
Theirs a bunch of games that have come out that I still haven’t bought because I might switch to PS5. This whole thing sucks
i was on the fence between xbox and ps5 when they were announced all the way up to pre order days I wasnt sure then the bethesda news dropped and it got me onto seris x first. not saying it wasnt worth it but if i would of known what i know now I may not have bothered with series x
