The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Man, can’t wait to play Forza Horizon and MCC on Switch 2 at launch. It’s guaranteed that there will be no case by case basis, they’ll just say it’s all coming out everywhere and it’s better for all of us gamers. Also, Gamepass will lose Day 1 games and MS will make it a worse offering than PS+. By the way, Xbox Series is the last generation, MS has no reason to keep going, serving us PS5 and Switch fans is a much better decision and will bring in more money than they can ever dream of.

Thats not far from reality hahaha.

I’d hope he finds none of this funny. With the layoffs and multiplat rumors the good will he and his leadership team have built the last decade is 100% gone.

Okay…

WWE managed to turn chicken shit to chicken salad. Your move, Xbox…

2024 is a fucking bunker year….

No it’s not, the hyperbole is off the charts.

Yeah I know about the leak, we’ll see what happens. I would imagine if there is “bad” news coming there is going to be some offset with “good” news, the PRO-X was just a guess as something that would be a good news thing.

Video will be shot from Phil’s living room where he will be playing Diablo 4 as his battle pass is more important than a business update . There is a distant voice in the background, it’s Rod Ferguson on Party Chat. Phill’ll just laugh it up by saying that he has never planned to make anything multiplatform and that it was all a ruse by Sarah Bond to catch the leakers and that they’re all fired effective immediately. Also, he decided not to respect the contract with Sony and now call of duty is exclusive to Xbox. Also, Xbox Series H (handheld) now available for pre-order, comes with a free picture of Phil and Todd Howard. The handheld is based on the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware because guess what? MS has just bought Nintendo over the weekend with leftover money from last quarter earnings from MS, so they just decided to rebrand the thing and appoint Mike Ybarra as Nintendo President.

Did they say at all when this new business plan will be announced next week? I can see it being friday if it is bad news for fans. Also did they say is it gonna be a video or is this gonna be an xbox wire post?

I love gaming news, rumors and conversations but this week has truly brought me to my breaking point.

I don’t think we have any of those details yet.

No one knows really. I imagine it has to be some kind of press conference no? Imagine if its just an xbox wire article :v

They havent even gave a date for said event. What if its ramdomly dropped next week? (doub it though)

I’m going to guess Schreier or someone will leak the whole event’s plans a few hours before it happens as Xbox higherups start telling the team what’s going on.

You know… You’re right.

Been doing some thinking about how could they possibly make this work.

Ubisoft will definitely keep supporting Xbox hardware. Why? Ubisoft+ Xbox is currently the only platform that supports Ubisoft+ (Sony doesn’t allow it on PlayStation). I subscribed to it for the new Assassin’s Creed and again for Prince of Persia. Microsoft is the only platform that allows competing subscription services with day and date releases. Same for EA. They’re not going to pass up on the platform that actually allows them to do so.

As far as Xbox games going to Playstation, this is where they have to do it in a way that makes sense for the Xbox platform. One to two years later. Full price 1-2 years later on PlayStation vs Day and date included with Game Pass.

This could serve as some sort of reverse psychology. With all these studios Xbox is in a position to pump out a ton of high quality content. So you have a choice, wait 1-2 years later and pay full price or get an Xbox and play those games day one on Game Pass? Could it possibly entice people to get an Xbox? It might.

This could work great to fund sequels. Take Hi-Fi Rush for example. It makes more money by going multiplatform a year later. A sequel is then made. But guess who gets to play it 1-2 years early? Xbox. Loved Hi-Fi Rush enough and now you have the itch to play the sequel without waiting a year? Could it possibly entice people to get an Xbox? It might.

Looking forward to what they have to say. They just have to give you a reason to buy the hardware.

To be fair…there are only like a dozen or so super fans for the Xbox brand.

Xbox has the worst marketshare by far and at a certain point in time, when customer spending on Xbox has reached a certain threshold, MS are likely better off releasing games only on PC, Sony, Nintendo and mobile platforms, while at the same time ditching Xbox hardware.

It is what it is, they’re not obliged to make current customers happy, if there isn’t anymore money to be made or if there isn’t enough growth to be achieved. Their mission is more money for the investors/shareholders and higher profit margins.

Regarding the super fans: Xbox engaged with them publicly so Xbox is partly at fault for these insane people and their social media meltdowns.

Nah, he’s right. If Starfield had come out when it was supposed to in 2022, and we didn’t have to wait a year to play our own first party games like Deathloop and Ghostwire thanks to Sony, all of this would sting a lot less. As it stands it just goes to show that no matter how much money Microsoft spends or how many acquisitions it makes, we Xbox consumes never get the full benefits from it. Either Sony will get in ahead to secure something via a 3rd party deal, or Microsoft will just put our games on other consoles anyway.

Spencer’s comment was on Monday. It’s now Friday & no one has leaked anything else.

People might not want to hear it but Jez backtracking could IMO be indicative of news filtering that there’s really not much in the plans in terms of ‘catastrophism’ that we haven’t already heard, i.e. that some titles are going multiplatform along with Activision & Bethesda remaining multiplats as they were before the acquisitions.

The big ‘bad news’ for me would have been the Xbox Series consoles being discontinued, Xbox pulling out of the console hardware space & Gamepass getting nerfed in terms of no more day one Xbox Game Studio releases.

I’m feeling more positive today so I’ll assume it’s just Bethesda, Activision & Blizzard remaining multiplatform, basically.

I just hope the message is clear in regards which games are exclusive or not. For example: all ABK games are multiplatform and others exclusive or all games go multiplatform after 1 year. Whatever the rule, but one that is crystal clear. Otherwise, the port begging is going to be insufferable.
