Gonna do a video on this, expect it to drop later tonight.

Nah, people won’t buy an xbox for the sequel and will just wait for the sequel to appear or not appear on a Nintendo platform. I don’t think this strategy works in moving console units because they’re not going to gain console sales by making the sequel exclusive

I am not doing the math but why could it not work.? And besides it will be on all occasions a case by case thing with games not from xgs. and clearly with activision this will be the case. and therefor we have to accept it that way either way

This is how many feel and you see this sentiment happening here and on social media. If hifi rush does happen. Then I think Phil and company need to tell the xbox community what their plans are because a lot of it seems like half measures to me. It feels they’re losing confidence in the xbox brand, and need to let us know what their plans are today and tomorrow. I feel some might jump to either PC or Playstation next gen

I agree a Statement that clearly shows how they will do ports should be applied or stated

Why do people immediately dismiss the marketing effects of exposing people who typically ignore Xbox to Xbox games?

Maybe they won’t buy an Xbox, maybe they will. Or maybe they’ll buy a Game Pass subscription and stream the games.

I argue Xbox does the math better then us in how it works or not

I’ll also say that not every move they make needs to benefit Xbox owners, for some of them they’ll have to weigh some negative impact on Xbox owners (or in some other area) for positive impact in other areas. There is a balancing act at play when you are doing what they are doing.

The main reason why people are so pissed/worried about this is Xbox’s current situation

Obviously fanboys will care no matter what but if the console was selling well there would be far less drama but the more games they start putting on other platforms while the hardware continues to struggle the less confidence people are going to have buying hardware going forward

and people can say it will only be smaller stuff and not the big stuff like Forza, Hellblade etc but that’s not really the point, you’re already building a narrative and lack of confidence in people, as soon as you start putting titles on other platforms no matter how small people will still think there a chance and hold off jumping into the ecosystem

I guaran-damn-tee that if this gets announced more people will be expecting Starfield or ES6 to make the jump eventually, whether it does or not doesn’t even really matter, the damage will already have been done

I view it similar to Ori where the sequel didn’t influence many switch owners to get an Xbox one . Most people said they’ll wait for sequel to come to switch or forget about it . I feel hifi rush potential might be something bigger than gaming because I could see an anime about the game. So they might want a bigger audience for that

Ori was a different case. Moon specifically pushed for a switch release no? HiFiRush is different and has Franchise potential

It’s def a bit different but I am talking more about the game releasing on switch didn’t impact console sales much . HiFi Rush is indeed awesome, so maybe there’s a small chance it moves console units , but I sight it will

A big sequel could. It was a surprise hit. A second game could be really big.

I will add to this and say that doing this when Xbox is struggling in mindshare and brand identity from a CONSOLE space isn’t a good look.

The whole reason this rumor even has steam is on Xbox tbh. 1st party on a case by case basis=you will literally have this annoying ass debate come up around every 1st party release, big or small. So just get used to it.

I think there’s a disconnect between CONSOLE gamers and the direction Xbox is going. People gravitated toward Xbox brand for its consoles, MP and online features, and 1st party offerings originally no? Now, it seems like Xbox wants consumers to be attached to a subscription service in lieu of those things that originally attracted people in the first place. I mean look at some of the replies in this thread. “Mah Gamepass is all I care about.”

That seems to be paying them dividends monetarily atm but I hope Xbox doesn’t lose the plot in the long run because people won’t value the CONSOLE brand if there ends up less reasons to buy one compared to their competitors OR they can buy their competitors consoles and still get the Xbox 1st party experience even in some capacity.

I get that they want to move away from just the console and I was fine with that, sticking to the console like the past just isn’t feasible anymore with costs the way they are

The problem is however that console is and will be for sometime the absolute base of their gaming business, the bulk of their subscribers are there and it’s where they make the vast majority of their gaming revenue

Screw with that and they have very little, they need to be careful how they navigate this stuff, bringing their games day and date while I think the right choice has killed a lot of the appeal of xbox as a console, doing the same with other consoles is dangerous

It’s one thing to say you don’t need an xbox to get into the eco-system or play where you want, it’s another to encourage them to just pick up a playstation or switch instead

Well said Staffy. If it’s Nintendo I do not care and it makes sense. XBox done it before and Nintendo isn’t really a Series S or X rival. If its Ori on the PS5, I’m fine with that too as XBox have split from Moon.

Anything else on the PS5 and that’s a terrible moment for any Xbox console gamer IMO.

I think its just Hi-FI Rush on the Switch and I’m fine with that.

“Go third party or don’t” of course he would say that frigging line. The constant predictable overreaction from everyone has just been so damned disappointing.

We should just start responding with “Sell your Xbox or don’t!”.

Considering Xbox sales so far this gen, they already are or at least not buying them to begin with
