Sony corp won’t care they will love it, having a successful platform is free money while others have to take the risk and foot the bill for gaas the upkeep. What COULD happen is Sony winding down some of their studio output as it frankly would save them money.
Gene Park, Jez and Andy have all been solid on expressing concerns.
Yes already lol, was on the phone about an hour ago with one and he was in a Game Stop looking for trade in prices
They’ve lost all trust in Microsoft basically, and that’s why they reacted this way, they think that Sony is more trustworthy in this market and will be safe for at least a few more generations, something they can’t see Microsoft doing as a platform holder, too much “this is our new strategy!” Every few years, I can’t blame them.
They want me to jump ship too but I’ll be here, I have a big backlog on Xbox and I don’t even own any PS games, I’ll probably transition slowly eventually but not so fast.
This seems a bit overboard lol, making a 500 purchase over some rumors is wild. Everything could in theory become true but its up to Microsoft to detail.
It’s irrelevant for us fans, but late ports still sell. Starfield will sell a lot of copies in a year from now. Good games will sell anywhere.
Just like us Xbox fans, they are people who can wait as they have only one platform. We waited years for Yakuza and Persona series which sold gangbusters on Xbox since then. Same if Final Fantasy VII Remake would came out on Xbox tomorrow.
Some people just dont want to deal with other platforms for whatever reasons. But they are still lnterested in the games, it’s just not a priority for them.
Strangely, I’m starting to see a lot of logical approach from many folks, including some whom I wouldn’t expect. I believe people are now in a phase of realization or rather being serious about the industry. In other words, drop the act, be serious about the direction that could lead to.
Definitely better than all the bad faith “hOw dOeS It aFFeCt yOu” posts I see. Xbox no longer being meaningful competition isn’t good for ANYONE. People who think this is good or no big deal will find out the hard way.
Fair enough they feel that way - but whats the rush? Theyll know for sure in a week. Are they so convinced that things are worst case scenario that they cant wait a week? Or maybe they went ahead before phils tweet.
I just cant get my head around the impulsivity.
why would Sony complain? Sony would be getting a 30% cut. They’d be laughing their ass to the bank.
Personally, doesn’t affect me as I’m not gaming on PS. And Sony will still face competition from Nintendo, PC, and Mobile, and the next Xbox (i know that doesn’t count for you, but it’s true. And MS/Xbox is not responsible for nor can control whatever draconian policies Sony initiates. I will be cool on Xbox X2 and PC with gamepass.
Sony will react by securing more exclusive deals to keep games off Xbox. We already know what Xbox will do in response to that…
Put even more games on Playstation?
And less incentives to continue making expensive games if your competitor made peace and work for you.
Like Destiny 2 right now, the only successful multiplatform GAAS game from Sony. If it was still really popular, Sony would be racking money from Xbox players even with the 30% cut. I feel like that was their plan.
Why would you want to get rid of your series X? I have so many games and BC games that If xbox goes 3rd party I’d be worried about the future, I’d probably try to get a second one. they might discontinue the consoles but I doubt they’d ever delete our data and owned games
With PS being a stronger brand worldwide, every social media post about any Xbox first party moving forward game is gonna be like this. Twitter about to be even more unbearable in gaming discourse.
Good thing anyone sane doesnt read shitty twitter comments
Some people need to start copping some bans, Jesus Christ.
What did Jez say exactly? Must have missed that tweet.
And as for that stuff about abandoning day one first party releases on GP, who came with that “rumor” first? Just speculation on the other forums or from a somewhat good source?
I have a Game Pass sub until late 2026. I’ll keep the console forever. the question is if people will buy the successor and what Xbox can do to incentivize current future users to come use the platform.
I’m sorry you were disrespected like that. We need more moderation in this god forsaken thread.
