The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Out of interest if you had to choose between:

Xbox Game Pass keeping their day 1 launches but their first party games only stay exclusive to Xbox for 6-12 months.

or

Xbox keeping their exclusives but they don’t launch into Game Pass until 6-12 months afterwards.

Which would you choose?

  • Keep their exclusives but no Game Pass day 1
  • Game Pass Day One but only timed exclusives

I would personally choose the latter.

Look on the brighter side, MS might hit the $10 billion profit mark in the next 3 financial quarters :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

For real tho, this could be bad for people who love PlayStations expensive cinematic games. There could be a future where Sony might decide to downscale productions and close studios without Xbox Competition.

Handheld gaming is mainly Nintendo , people do not like that a market is splited.

Except Xbox will apparently still exist in the same form it does now, just that Xbox will only have temporary exclusivity to its own games. So technically nothing forcing you to switch to anyone else’s platform.

An image of MS converting PS and Ninty users just leaked!!! You are not going to believe this!!

The reasons for those AAA games is to push console sales. Without competition, Sony will be more interested in collecting 3rd party royalties without effort. It was more like that during ps1 and ps2 times.

After reading Jez’s last tweet, I guess it will be fine.

I feel like it will be select games and not all, or years late ports, which would be irrelevant anyway.

We’ll all laugh at Halo played with a Dualsense controller. Sony fans will eat it all and see how good these games are. Maybe the discourse will finally stop being so one sided.

I’m still worried about GP though. If you abandon the idea of all first party releases on day 1, it diminishes the value and mixes the message.

Holy shit this, shrinking competitors is NEVER a good thing and I was quite shocked at Grubbs lack of awareness on this.

The other perhaps more hilarious side of this is the bluecheck mark fanboys, how are they going to farm engagement now?

none of the rumors from trusted sources say they are doing this.

@Resist has been nothing but argumentative and demeaning throughout this entire thread, so I don’t think his call to close it down should really mean much.

*Edit: Of course slow mode has already been enabled. Nobody is calling for heads. People should be allowed to express frustration in a damn discussion forum. There’s some dooming and glooming, but that hurts who exactly? Just mute the thread if you don’t like it. Ridiculous *

Phil’s tweet is amazing, he says “the future of Xbox” how many times have I heard the word “future” from him and other Xbox executives in the last decade…? I’d probably be rich by now if I was given a dollar every time an Xbox person says the word “future”

In my circle 3 friends already bought PS5s, 2 put their Xbox on sale and 1 I follow just went full PC, the 2 that out their consoles on sale will be getting PS5s, if they lose the hardware Xbox community they’re done as a platform holder, once you lose the enthusiasts that’s it.

Yes, I think Taylor Swift will help us Xbox fans too .

I don’t think XGS games dominating PlayStation charts is good for Sony either.

It makes you think. How Sony will react ? Will they be forced to promote Xbox games on their platform ? Can they refuse ?

Already? Based on something thats still technically unconfirmed. Fair enough doing so if youre still pissed off after details given next week but to me that seems a bit premature? Or are they afrid ps5s are going to be in short supply in a week?

I think thats the issue though. If they’re years later or irrelevant, why do it?

I dont think anyone can argue Microsoft doesnt have the money. Such a shame. ABK passed in Mid October, give CoD a chance to move game pass.

So, what can happen next week

1.XBOX anounce that next XBOX will be the last.

  1. So then we have maybe 7-9 years with a relevant XBOX box.

3.Some games will be available on PS 2024 and other consoles.

  1. During now and the 9 years gamediscs will disappear. For all consoles, period.

  2. Gamepass?/even more XBOX games on PS and Nintendo coming years

Sony, Nintendo and XBOX will stop selling gamedisc at one point, then all of them will be gaming services.

So i think this is a force of hand, XBOX will buy even more gamestudios during all these years and when all consoles companies is digital XBOX will be on top.

Most likley we will also see XBOX next move in the next acquisition.

You can air out your thoughts, every 10 minutes. Resist’s post didn’t change anything, it was already on slow mode and I was about to make it a little slower. You aren’t seeing all the “calling for heads” because I’ve had to non-stop moderate them. Again, if you have an issue send me a DM and we can talk about it.

Why? they’ll earn 30% of every game going forward and sell more consoles so even more people can buy those games
