The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

The only reason i wanted acquisitions was for gamepass, content on Xbox, and competition in the console space. Xbox is about to make all of that worse. I’m sick

Which is why there is 0 reason to think Xbox wouldn’t continue to expand, Microsoft just spent 70 billion cause they see value in the gaming industry - and that has not changed. Just the way they plan to approach that, but if anything a multiplatform approach just makes it easier to further expand.

Don’t let a couple assholes ruin it. Just ignore them. Some people can’t afford, or don’t want to buy, two consoles. I’ve always been primarily an Xbox gamer, but I empathize with anybody who made the jump this gen based on promises and what they’ve been told the direction for Xbox is. On the bright side, you probably haven’t built up too big of a library of games on Xbox, so if you ultimately decide to go back to Playstation, either this gen or in a future generation, those games will still be there.

Yep, if they go multiplatform then they can continue their acquisitions without so much scrutiny from the FTC.

That’s pretty much what they signaled acquisitions were for. At this point, I have no faith in the future of Xbox, but I legit worry for the likes of the smaller studios they’ve acquired. I also worry that the freedom studios had to make smaller, creative games may not be there for much longer if the key driver for this pivot is maximizing profits because one of my favorite games this gen, Pentiment, most definitely did not back up the brink’s truck.

Hey, don’t worry, man. I know what you are feeling. You are not wrong. Some people are still in denial, being super defensive, “nothing has changed”, “they are making rivers of money”.

I agree 100% with you. The damage is done. They lost the trust, the good will. The brand is tarnished right now. It’s super sad, terrible situation.

My situation is even worse since I live in Brazil. We can’t even find the consoles around here anymore. People here believe they simply abandoned our market. No major retailer is selling them.

I’m done too. I understand you.

Hamfisting that into this will come across as putting a band-aid on an artery wound.

Yeah, the damage of investing money on console, peripherals and software only for this to happen is being underrated by many. It’s easy to miss this as a PC gamer as it would hardly affect you, but it is devastating for Xbox console owners.

that doesn’t stop me from believing in a very big acquisition

If they announce another acquisition and quell these rumors this will be me:

I honestly dont know how you re reading anything regarding a new acquisition into this. This is clearly to explain how they would approach the multiplatform strategy.

Thread should be closed until the day of the presentation, next week imo.

And then people will write about it on other threads.

I wonder what are their plans, if they intend to keep Xbox console hardware and platform alive after the changes. I mean, the rumours are that they already planned to release multiple new hardware, right ?

Multiple new hardware doesn’t necessarily means new console.

Unless some drastic changes will be made to GP as a whole I see no reason why we can’t get old as hell ABK games on there.

If anything, CoD is a wildcard.

I’m contemplating a much slower mode until there is actual confirmed info.

Probably a good decision.
