I wonder if that doesn’t sound like a huge acquisition that would force them to switch to “third party publishers”. The acquisition of ABK was announced on January 22, 2022. + the 1900 layoffs recently smell like an acquisition to me.

There seems to be an acquisition approximately every 2 years (except Double Fine which slipped in in 2019)
I tell myself that a big acquisition could make them change their strategy and compete more with Tencent than Sony and Nintendo. I would find it crazy if they announced the acquisition of Take Two, it could have the effect of a bomb.

Bro, this is not the time for that lol. I personally don’t even want Microsoft to acquire another studio, let alone another publisher, because I worry about what’s going to happen to their existing studios, especially the ones making smaller games, like Double Fine and Compulsion Games.

I think this earnings report might explain why the MS suits have shifted strategies. Devices revenue is down, gaming revenue is up thanks to ABK.
It’s also not great to make people think about their upcoming preorders for a whole week because I’m seeing people posting cancelled pre-orders and console trade-in receipts.
