The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

I don’t care about old games I rarely replay, I care about consistency and transparency and Xbox is giving us very little of that: games releases consistency has just started (maybe, also quality 2023 was highs and lows), support in my region is bad (less discounts, less rewards, less everything than good old america, localisation and marketing error 404 not found). Going pc seems the right choiche, Sony and Nintendo are even worse, but at least they know to sell their shit.

They are really hitting all of 2013’s greatest hits. I literally see Don Mattrick flashing in front of my eyes.

This level of arrogance hasn’t been seen at Xbox since the Don Mattrick Xbox One reveal “we have a product for people who don’t have an internet connection, it’s called the Xbox 360” did I quote that right?

We’ve went from HFR (oh it’s just a small game) to SoT (oh it’s old and GaaS) to Starfield this year, Indiana potentially launching a couple months after Xbox launch as well as everything else going multiplat

I’m impressed you still have any confidence in them with how fast these things have escalated

This is looking like a 2.0 version of the “If you want to play offline there’s a console named Xbox 360 that can do that”

At least, Don Mattrick had a line up of exclusives to begin the xbox one generation lol.

Spencer didn’t even achieve that.

Not all Microsoft games will be ported to PS5. Sony will only get our critically acclaimed games and best-selling games. We will always have the privilege to play games like Redfall exclusively on Series X.

Yeah, last week people were refusing to accept that even Hi-Fi Rush would go multiplatform.

It’s interesting that you’re quoting something someone actually said vs. the silence we’ve had so far based entirely on rumors and leaks.

I think this is far, far worse and more damaging than the XB1 debacle, even if the messaging was awful at least they weren’t basically throwing in the towel when it came to hardware and exclusives

I based my post around this Xbox employee liking this tweet.

Again, this is 100% insider leak/rumor stuff now. It’s not some weird path that Xbox themselves took, whatever messaging they wanted to do is gone.

It has the potential to be far more damaging to the brand IMO.

ALSO!! Isnt that guy kind of throwing fuel to the “gamepass is not sustainable” narrative?

And this thread has taken this tweet and his liking of it in a specific “insulting” way. The tweet is essentially “you can spend full price or get game pass on our platform” and how that “enhances the value of the service”.

I always thought that Day One GamePass drop of their titles was a terrible idea. It makes sense for smaller or niche titles like Psychonauts, MFS or HiFi Rush, but for the big AAA titles they should have been a wait of at least 1 year before it hitting GamePass. EA does it with its titles, and its FIFA/ Sports FC, Madden games, Star Wars Jedi Survivor all were among the best-sellers of the year, despite it being a known certainty they would come to EA Play.

This problem of the fanbase being conditioned to not buy games is their poor planning and lack of foresight. While initially it seemed to boost sales when the number of GP subscribers were low, as the number of GP subscribers grew, it began to have the negative effect and affect sales. Xbox should have been flexible and started delaying the Game Pass release for tentpole games IMO.

Xbox users buy games though, its a myth that they dont.

It also says that the userbase has been conditioned to not buy games and let’s say it’s true… who conditioned them to behave this way…? Still a ridiculous untrue statement because most Xbox users are still buying games.

Microsoft went from being the future of gaming to Tencent 2.0 in less than a month

Here are metrics this corporation forgot to take account of: consumer behavior/needs/wants or reception. These are the major issues a lot of companies fail to take account of ( not just Microsoft but companies like Disney). In the entertainment industry, fanbase reception is important for their product to succeed. Ignoring fans only leads to a worse product( look at the Star Wars movies or some Netflix shows).

I might hold off on buying most of my games on the Xbox store till they officially say something.

I easily prefer Xbox’s ecosystem over PlayStation’s, but I need to see what Xbox’s future looks like.
