Wow. I asked for clearer messaging earlier but Holy fuck. If this is what it’ll be spill the fucking beans and be done with it.
It’s pretty clear there was a power struggle at Microsoft and this is what happens when you go overboard with acquisitions. People want different things and Microsoft proper probably made an overruling decision after spending almost 100B of its money. All the regulatory preassure from the ABK deal didn’t help either.
I‘ve said everything I wanted to say in here before. Most of all, I feel betrayed. They didn‘t deliver on their promises when they sold me their console and announced their plans for their investments. It was all only words and not legally enforceable, I do know that. But that‘s the only word I can find for it.
Yeah, I wouldn’t really be a fan of such a move. Exclusives are the reason I buy one console over the other and I don’t particularly care about timed exclusives wether they are by MS or Sony.
Unsuccessful games or older gaas titles like Sea of Thieves I don’t mind getting ported to other platforms, but Starfield was one of the reasons I bought an Xbox in the first place so that would be kind of sucky.
I’m still not buying a Playstation 5 (or 6,7,etc), but I’m also not likely to purchase the next generation of Xbox if MS goes further than this, which to be fair was likely to be the case anyway since I was planning to switch to PC gaming by 2030-ish because I’ll likely have more disposable income by then lol.
First time I’ve been browsing the forums and nearly shouted “Nani?!” Outloud definitely did need expect to see that news story about Starfield. For me personally it doesn’t change anything. I mainly game using Gamepass and third party stuff (Sony stuff doesn’t really interest me). So long as Gamepass exists and the next console is good enough I’ll probably still stick with Xbox. Yes first party stuff may come to PlayStation but I’m getting old and don’t fancy waiting a year/18 months. Now if they launched day and date that’s a different argument.
Must admit I am morbidly curious how stuff like Halo and Starfield will do as full on multiplatform. Will the former get sales closer to the old days or will Microsoft’s games not make much of a sales impact to the PS audience?
I wonder just how much this comes down to things being tightened for the Xbox division now? They’ve made some big bets on Gamepass and buyouts, could it be all that just isn’t making the Xbox division as much money as it needs to? Somewhere along the way they’ve pivoted after buying Bethesda and making their stuff exclusive, to this new multiplatform philosophy
People like me that invested in the ecosystem for many years and have a big library of games there, assuming that there won’t be a next gen Xbox for a second, just an assumption, I just can’t see myself throwing away my current Xbox and all those games, no way in hell am I buying all of those again on Playstation.
Can’t believe it. Genuinely wondering about gaming less, just use my Xbox as a backlog machine, and maybe getting a good PC in 5 years or something. Broken.
I know a lot of people are saying they think that ps5 pro is looking good now but now does sony really need to release one? they got t he market to themselves now
