We’re actively in the midst of rumours and leaks regarding Xbox’s next console, they just invested 70 billion dollars to expand their gaming studio roster and we just had a great developer direct breaking down the content coming out this year. Some folks need to take a break and chill out, Xbox isn’t going anywhere even if some content releases elsewhere.
I mean shit, I am still happily subscribed and playing games on gamepass, I’m still excited to sse the future of all the studios they’ve picked up when they are free to make the games they want to make without major management interferance - I’m still pretty happy for the future of Xbox and the games they’re gonna make. I get the feeling some people are way too focused on “winning” and list wars and have forgotten all that.
It would be odd if there’s no next gen Xbox console, because what happens to Game Pass in that case? Cloud isn’t up there with native console gaming at all, not everyone wants to move to PC. So will they strike a deal with Sony that they get Game Pass on there? Other scenario is it’s over for Game Pass.
So for those still interested, there likely still will be consoles for a while.
Starfield is coming which means everything might as well be on the table, their hardware is cooked, not immediately but long term, I don’t think it’s going to be viable
I said earlier in this thread that I would not be buying games on Xbox anymore but Game Pass is still a thing, which I’ll likely use for the upcoming “exclusives” they have this year, will still keep my console until I feel like I’m truly done with my backlog, but I will start transitioning to the Playstation ecosystem, I really hope Sony now allows Game Pass on it, come on Sony pretty please!
Who will buy this? Xbox sales are already bad and Xbox gamers will no longer trust the brand. I think the idea is to go third party and put GP on PC/Steam, Playstation, Nintendo, and Cloud. This isn’t necessarily something bad for the brand, but it’s terrible for the players who have trusted them for years. The worst part is that Xbox games will probably be rejected by the Playstation community lol
Ok and even if they do release another console do you think it’s going to sell any better than the Series X/S or even worse? Instead of increasing the value of the console and giving people more reasons to buy, they just decreased the value and gave people no reason to buy it. People are worried about 3rd party support if that happens, and now Sony will have to pay even less to secure 3rd party exclusives in that case.

What a fucking mess. But it guess the writing kinda was on the wall, during the DD it just said “coming to Game Pass” or whatever, the exclusive tag has been absent for a while.
Talking about Starfield, did they improve the graphics? Because I swear it looks different now, something feels like it looks better, I’ve been playing it today and have been noticing some differences.
Microsoft Gaming will be a successful game publisher but there is just simply not a world where a timed exclusives box that is only there to provide an easy GP entry is anything more than a Steam Deck tier device.
Also I have a very bad feeling about how the “Microsoft Gaming” mobile store is going to pan out (it sounds like the EGS of mobile stores) and if that fails I wonder what MS is going to do to recoup.
So my last Xbox purchase will be Unicorn Overlord because it isn’t coming to PC and this will be the best way for me to play it.
I honestly feel so absolutely stupid for everytime I believed their “next year is going to be the year” bullshit. We were finally about to get one of those years and now this.
