The only real accomplishment of this move will be sowing the seed of doubt and people lie to themselves if they think in the age of internet, social media and smartphone 24/7 online, the thing won’t become the one and only discussion point about xbox games.

I can see that happening too yeah.

It sucks, after they finally finalised that damned ABK acquisition, in a really good position with all these studios and games actually now coming to fruition and relatively soonish in our hands…this annoying ass rumor had to appear.

Some clarity on the matter certainly would be welcome. For all we know it’s really just HFR and SoT with no further plans for anything else yet. Although I can see them shipping more older games if SoT and HFR were to be a success on other platforms. The big upcoming first party games though? I still don’t think anytime soon.

My biggest question is, where do they draw the line though? Sure, SoT is a very old game now, but HFR isn’t, but it is on the “smaller” side. But what about big upcoming releases? Will they come to other platforms a year after release? Because Starfield for example could be up next late this year. Doubt it, but you do start to wonder.

This whole “these games come to wherever Game Pass is.” will then be irrelevant too, and untrue.

There won’t be a line. Even stating “its 6 years old” isnt a remedy, Forza Horizon 4 will be 6 years old in a few months. Will that be next? Crackdown 3? Gears 5. Whatever next.

One can only hope that Xbox is sacrificing a pawn to claim another king in a future acquisition down the line, because there is no fucking way the amount of discourse to come is worth what Rush will bring in

Whatever their plans are it’s clear that whatever games they are bringing over whether its a couple or all of them, they believe that the damage done to the console side of things will be minimal or that they believe the money they’ll make from the PS/Nintendo side of things will make up for whatever they lose from sales on Xbox

Yeah, true that. Those are older games now and if SoT comes, then why not those either? If it happens it’s only gonna muddy the waters even more.

In all honesty, I believe that if/when Microsoft does this, it’s just a matter of time until their games are on Sony/Nintendo consoles day one. I see it the same as Sony putting their games on PC. It starts with one and keeps going until it’s day and date.

And really making it very easy for many people to just abandon the Xbox console. Personally I won’t, I will stick with the hardware but if we come to a point where everything it’s on Sony and Nintendo platforms too…many people will just stick with their Sony or Nintendo console. I mean for Europe it probably isn’t even that surprising anymore, seeing how dire it is now, but the rest of the world?

Surely most people weren’t that certain about the Sony stream? I was only kidding the other day, haha.

It’s an Internet rumor, sure, but one that starts to look very plausible now with good sources such as Tom Warren corroborating it.

Like, they clearly have the money to fund ports but instead of remastering their own games (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, etc…) , paying for the porting cost of missing games from there eco-system (Y’s games, Star Ocean 2nd Story, etc…) or spending that money on COUNTLESS other things to enhance the Xbox eco-system they do this?

Precisely. I dont subscribe to game pass to fund early access Bethesda games.

A better use of those funds would be porting Fallout 1, 2 and Elder Scrolls 1 and 2 to Xbox.

How do you feel about not knowing whether FF7 Remake will ever make it to Xbox? That’s how you’d feel with basically every Xbox game if you switched to Playstation.

Well, the fear mongering of this news is basically that. People are taking ports of two games and extrapolating it to say that every game is going to get ported. Take something that happens, assume the absolute worst case and then doom about it.

I’m not saying it’s going to stop at 2 games, but I do think there will continue to be a reason to own an Xbox console.

I believe with their current strategy they are trying to strike a balance between being everywhere and maintaining a strong platform. They’ll (unfortunately) likely do what they think they can get away with, but not more. They won’t stop at 2, but it won’t be all and it likely won’t even be the big games. I think we can have the discussion again if they release a blockbuster game with system selling potential.

That can be said about any game, it’s Rare’s last main game and is AAA. I think a lot of you are saying things you wouldn’t say in other circumstances just to fit the narrative.

I’d love to see Crackdown 3 come to more platforms because then maybe more people will see how fun its campaign is.

I don’t think I would ever consider SOT a big game regardless of the discussion. Hell, I’d even consider saying it isn’t AAA but I’m sure it’d piss people off lol. To each their own though.
