there’s a reason e3 died, the format is redundant in this day and age. Games are taking longer to make and companies are realising building a virtual slice to show of their games takes time out of actual development, so companies dont have new stuff to show on an annual basis
The games were nice but the pacing and presentation really needs work. The problem is Geoff keeps talking after the game is shown or about to be shown. One thing I learned from Xbox showcases from 2018 to 2022 is they let the games speak for themselves. When they talk, it’s a small intermission and usually, it’s there for a news to report like in 2018, they got KH3 in there. Last year, they got Atlus back to the family. Geoff just goes on and on and say things that make him look like he’s God for bringing these games.
He does a showcase extended style in the show as well, which slows down the pace. His interview for whatever reason doesn’t have the energy that makes you intrigued on what they’re about to say or something. I don’t know why but for some reason, that seems to happen with me since the dawn of SGF.
Overall, games were nice but the pacing and presentation need a lot of work and let the ego lock up.
Not the best show to be honest, but quite excited about Like a Dragon Gaiden and Sonic as well as MK1 as it looks insane and MK games are always great imo.
That new game Sand Land game looks awesome as well, most likely getting that! Love the art but I wished it had been a traditional turn by turn RPG.
FF7 looks good, wish it was on Xbox but I guess I’ll play it on PC if I find the time down the line!
yeah, in terms of excitement ff7r2 would have been a better choice.
FF16 makes more sense to them as that one is releasing in a couple months, while 7r is at least 6 months off, but seeing as people had already seen a few trailers of 16 fans rightfully found it underwhelming
Good show. Mortal Kombat 1 is potentially my most played game this year, so it was nice to see that. I thought Spider-Man 2 would be coming in hot so I was surprised to see October release. I figured late November or early December. Final Fantasy 7 part 2 looks good. A new Sonic is good news. Alan Wake 2 looks like it has that Remedy stamp of quality so that’s good news. Yakuza looks good but disappointed it wasn’t in English, hopefully they are working on recording an English version as that was part of the appeal of Like a Dragon, it will feel like a step backwards if they go back to subtitles. Lies of P demo available now is fun news
