Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

Finally played through the Oracle mission now that I got Andreja as my companion. Incredible opening.

Kids Stuff has actually gotten dialogue choices in this expansion, itā€™s usually just about our parents.

Andrejaā€™s was the only good one for me.

For me itā€™s Sarah, itā€™s gotten to the point I spend 90% of my time with her.

I wrapped up the DLC earlier today and it took me somewhere in the region of 18-20 hours to finish all but one side quest and unlock all the Achievements.

Highlights:

Good job on fleshing out the House of Vaā€™Ruun. Gorgeous location and the interior designs are also great. Strong main quest. A House Divided and Sympathy for the Living side-quests were awesome.

Lows:

Pretty bad performance in the open areas, especially when using the Rev-8. The hide-and-seek and Scientific Method sidequests were awful. I understand their purpose is to get players to explore, but they were just annoying.

Overall, Iā€™d place it 3rd after the UC and the Crimson Fleetā€™s faction quests and would give it an 8/10.

Thatā€™s pretty good.

Faction quest wise, I rank them as follows for me -

  1. Crimson Fleet
  2. UC Vanguard
  3. House Vaā€™Ruun
  4. Freestar Rangers
  5. Ryujin Industries

Re: Andreja and Shattered Space, from No Sodium:

If youā€™re looking for the resolution to what you did with Tomisar, go visit the Halls of Obedience and speak with Malibor Dulā€™kehf after youā€™ve completed the main storyline (preferably with Andreja as your companion), and enjoy.

I noticed BGS has done a lot of things like this with Shattered Space, I think itā€™s an expansion on talking to our companions after the main questline.

Except none of it is labeled as a quest, with the 2 that come to mind for me being extensions of A House Divided and Fallen Footsteps.

For those using Creations, what should the load order be? I saw one video that said the following should be the load order -

  1. Bugs/Fixes Mods
  2. UI Mods and Structures
  3. Environmental and Planets
  4. Items
  5. Gameplay
  6. Ship Mods
  7. NPC and Creatures
  8. Appearance (cosmetics)
  9. Textures

Thoughts?

Will be starting a fresh play through with 20 or so creations next year and im trying to see what the best load order should be. Thanks.

I generally put gameplay mods that add new perks or change the way they work or add new effects after UI mods. Mods that change how difficulty is scaled or enemy behaviors.

I also put animation mods after appearance mods.

Someone asked earlier for our thoughts regarding House Vaā€™ruun, if we thought it was a scam or a cult or what. I canā€™t find that post now, so itā€™s possible it was actually someone in No Sodiumā€¦ Anyway, I thought it was an interesting question but didnā€™t want to weigh in until Iā€™d finished the main quest in Shattered Space.

So, having just done so and having accessed the slates and computer in the Speakerā€™s office, my opinion is that itā€™s not a scam, but a cult that was probably started in good faith. It seems to me Jinan had some kind of hallucination that he believed to be real, and founded House Vaā€™ruun with that experience as basis. Since his death, it appears that no other speaker has actually felt the Giant Serpentā€™s presence, or spoken with him. I donā€™t think that that makes it a scam though, since Anasko clearly is still a fervent believer.

It was me and Iā€™m on the 100% cult scam

What people have experienced when they Grav travel is a glimpse of the Unity, I believe Jinan felt it, but he used his experience as a means to take control of the people that landed on this moon. Using test of fate, saying that if anyone died it was the great serpents will, using poisoned water to leave them vulnerable to his whims. The next reason why I think it was scam but one that started because of him connecting to the Unity, was that the Pilgrim came to him to try and explain what he experienced 3 times. During that time Jinan was so accustomed to having his power that he wouldnā€™t listen to reason and killed 3 of the Pilgrims Parallel Selfs. Which is where I believe Jinan got the idea for the Vortex Soldiers, knowing his experience came from Grav travel, and seeing going by what the Pilgrim likely told him about the Unity. Jinan got his scientist working on establishing a connection to the Unity, but without any artifacts or anyway to properly connect to the Unity. The experiments end up being a somewhat in between of what he wanted to achieve, but with more than enough of a boost to think that it would give them the edge in a war.

I like your take, but even given all of that I think itā€™s entirely possible that all those actions are undertaken by someone who is actually a believer, however wrong and misguided.

That said, I donā€™t have any trouble believing that he has it in him. At least judging by his grandsonā€™s actions and personality.

He may have started that way, after all the Sanctum pilgrimage is all about traveling the stars to experience god in a grav jump(been playing and ran into the random Sanctum Pilgrim ship). But over time, it wasnā€™t about religion, it was about power, control.

I would like to imagine that the Serpents Crusade began because he saw how the Sanctum worked, how similar it was to his own religion and yet completely different in how they shared it. I think it was a threat to his power and in order to keep the power he had gotten he started a war with the heretics who are trying to experience the Unity in the same way he did, or donā€™t believe in a divine power or are still clinging to old Earth religions.

Sorry forgot to address the future generations belief, honestly, I think the belief just came from years of being part of the religion. The people of Vaā€™Ruun Kai have lived with it for so long and have had it integrated into their lives so thoroughly that it would take a lot to leave it behind. Itā€™s the central part of their culture, what every single child is raised to believe is the reason for everything.

Something else, which may or may not mean anything in terms of game lore, but Iā€™m pretty sure Victor Aiza and Jinan Vā€™aruun has the same voice actor. And since Aiza at some point talked to himself, it seems heā€™s gone through the Unity. Soā€¦ Victor = Jinan? :man_shrugging:

Interesting theory, but I looked up the VA for Victor and he doesnā€™t have Jinan listed, and a Google search brought up Rex Andersonā€™s Twitter and heā€™d been retweeting all of the Starfield shorts in the lead-up to the DLC release, so itā€™s likely him.

Good research. I based it entirely on the voices being so similar, so youā€™re likely right. Too bad. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Decided to start a new playthrough modded playthrough currently following Lin.
