It’s exactly as I thought, they were always going to go for the easy money.
Imo, Zealots are getting a lot of building up this DLC.
Speaking of redeemed…
That’s another 3 hours of Shattered Space, bringing my total time with the game to about 15 hours.
Currently in the middle of a side quest and will do another around the same time, that maybe part 2 of one of the talking quest.
I’m currently feeling so happy to be playing and just losing track of time often. I can’t wait to jump back in and do these quest, before starting another main quest.
Just got done with Shattered Space today, thought it was really good. My frames were acting up a little on the Series X at times but outside of that I really enjoyed the main quest and the side stuff / exploration was a lot of fun. Not that I really take reviews seriously or anything but I’m actually shocked it’s sitting at a 55 on Opencritic, I thought it would be in the low 80s like the base game or at the very least somewhere in the 70s.
Idk I just feel like 55 is way too harsh. My personal rating for the expansion is somewhere between 80-85.
Enjoying this DLC very much so far, surprised about the negative reviews that I’ve been seeing talked about, not gonna lie based on my experiences so far I had expected this to score similarly to the base game and I even think if the main game would’ve been designed more like this that it would’ve being received more favorably, I think it’s really good and love just being in single a planet doing many side quests without having to travel from star system to star system.
Still going strong for me, only 7 people reviewed it. So not a huge shock. It had soured me, but playing through today man some of the quests hit far harder than I expected (the old man).
I’m about 4-5 hours in, only done the main quest up until meeting the High Council and some side quests. I’m enjoying it so far, but the technical performance on console is pretty bad when roaming in the Rev-8. Hoping for some patches ASAP.
Try to slow down when it’s really bad, when going full speed all the time that’s something I noticed happens with the Rev-8. Specially on planets with life, going to 40fps if you’re at 60 should help with that as well.
I haven’t been shy about my love of this game, and after about 6-7 hours of Shattered Space that love hasn’t diminished one bit. Yes, it’s more of the base game, but the base game is awesome so I don’t see the problem.
I do have one bone to pick though.
Once it became clear that Shattered Space was going to be about the Va’ruun, I prepared myself by romancing Andreja and marrying her. For those who’ve done that, you know there’s a lot to unpack there, but here are two issues that primarily come to mind:
- When you first meet her, she’s basically exiled from her home world, but she does have one small point of contact: Tomisar. He’s the only way she can communicate with her home, and (one would assume) receive news and letters from her loved ones. Well, she ended up blowing him away, completely cutting herself off from her entire past, ensuring she would never return to her home planet.
- Then she ends up marrying an unbeliever, and had some anxieties about that. Knowing we would never be together in the afterlife and also being unsure how her God would look upon her having done this.
Given those two facts, one would think she’d:
A) Have a lot more to say about her return to her world, a world she thought she’d never again see. She does have a few lines, but nothing even close to what I would expect, even from someone as stoic as her. And if you initiate a conversation, there’s no new conversational options either. Since I’m not done with the main Shattered Space quest, this may be better dealt with later, but she still really ought to have had some strong reactions upon first landing there.
B) Once I walked the Serpent’s Path and became a Promised, thereby presumably resolving one of her big anxieties about being married to me, there was exactly ZERO reaction. I find that incredibly poor.
So while I found all of that quite disappointing, maybe disproportionally disappointing, I am still very happy to have an entire new world to explore. Based on what I’ve done and what I see is available to me, I think I’ll probably spend a good 25-30 hours on Va’ruun’kai and in Dazra. Time and money well spent if you ask me.
Yes, this bothers me a little bit too. I’m in an NG+ in a fresh universe and haven’t progressed much beyond being able to do Shattered Space, so I assumed Andreja being a bit reserved was down to us not knowing each other that well yet. I thought it was strange that she didn’t react much at all about the whole thing, threw me off a bit. She has some interactions which is nice, but I assumed she would be reacting much stronger to returning to Va’ruun. A little disappointing.
It’s probably a hot take, but I think the RPG-Ness in this game is pretty lacking. It’s basically an open world looter shooter to me. Most decisions and relationships are inconsequential to the game.
Absolutely do love it for what it is though.
No, I agree with you to some extent. It’s hard to put my finger on it but it is definitely lacking something in that regard.

This maybe part of it or it could be a bug
Base game encounters have been added for Shattered Space.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
It feels like the designers did not intend to fulfill any of the character development of Andreja with this DLC. Which is stupid considering the consequences of her quest line of failing her initial mission infiltrating and reporting back on Constellation and potentially killing Tomisar (which I did). I want someone to interview the Bethesda leads of Shattered Space because it feels like no one on the project took notes from Far Harbor which is objectively Bethesdas best DLC that centers on Nick Valentine and his Syndicate brother DiMA, and if you bring Nick along you get fulfilling and rewarding character development. I really don’t understand how they went backwards from this.
I tried a few paths and got multiple conversations with her post main quest, outside of that it didn’t change too much but I admit I never come to these games for that or immersion like many others do. I’m not the “wander in a direction and explore” type, and she talked a lot more than I was even expecting to in this one. I get it if others want more over-arching narrative shifts, I just think the reality is for dev on this one that it’s so much bigger than any previous game that they had to set limits on things.
Lost and Found and Fallen Footsteps are such good quest that build up possibilities(probably not going to happen how I think though lol).
A House Divided is another great quest that explains some background on Va’Ruun activities.
