I can’t believe I’m already back into Starfield even though there’s no new content. This update is just so good, it transforms the game. I have so much fun in my new playthrough.
So on my first Starfield playthrough I beat all the faction quest lines and main quest.
Outside of the above and the main cities you go to, are there any planets worth me exploring/ any side quests worth hunting out?
First play through was 60 hours ish… i know mileage will vary but just curious if anyone had anything that stands out especially for NG plus
I never did actually make it through my first run even though I had a ton of hours in it. Once I get a few more things out of my backlist though I’m definitely going to go back & finish up some more storyline & try to get to my first NG+. It’ll be especially nice that they allow you to redo your character for when I get there.
There’s quite a few, some of which no one can tell you how to find as they’re randomly placed, but here’s a handful that are always in the same place and are definitely worth seeking out:
- The Crucible in the Charybdis system
- Groundpounder in the Altair system
- The Mantis in… I forget, but just kill a few spacers and you get a note about a secret outpost. Follow those instructions.
- First Contact in the Porrima system
- The Colander in the Schrodinger system
- Talk to the bartender on Gagarin and agree to her fetch quest, it’s great
Same here, it’s bizzare since nothing in the patch directly relates to new exploration. But everything somehow does. Afflictions, thirst, hunger make me scav my environments slower, I notice so much more world building.
The surface maps actually make me want to explore planets as I can make out unique pois. Planetary afflictions make it even more so, as you need to find cover.
It’s just fascinating since I can really see how they can flesh it out so much further now (more enemies, more pois, more encounters, settlements)
Thank you for this! Funnily enough i just did the Mantis haha really enjoyed that one and picked one up in Akila to do with the Ashta
You’re welcome. Also, if you ever see an Abandoned Mining Platform POI, make sure to visit it.

Damn I might have to play Starfield again
One change I hope to see in the future is that the damage we take from the environment and falls is 1 to 1 to our health. Having to go into a burning planet with a sandstorm and take more than half my health(785) for like 100 environmental damage is sucks.
For those that care about it.
Still hasn’t been fully fixed, just as before it is still recommended to use over SDR but it’s far from great overall.
As a owner of a TV that truly shines with HDR this remains one of my annoyances in gaming. Some studios nail HDR, and some really, really don’t.
There are much worst implementations, also I remember you shared a video of this guy talking about Starfields HDR and he pretty much said it was fake because it was AutoHDR.
It’s the main reason I can’t take his advice on games with AutoHDR, because if he thinks an implementation that’s better than a lot of other efforts is bad because it’s fake. He will always say it’s not fixed and it’s bad no matter how much you it improves.
Also an owner with an HDR tv and imo it looks great.
Do you really see specular highlights? I notice it much more in games such as Doom Eternal, the specular highlights melt my eyes, haha. Maybe I still don’t have the settings in Starfield right.
As for the auto HDR, was it a different kind of auto HDR than the ones we have in BC titles? Because when I pressed the guide button I didn’t see auto HDR up top.
It was what was talked about how Bethesda did their HDR implementation when the game first dropped and their has never been anything saying they changed it.
Also yes, shiny objects get a spot if light on them, that changes depending on the angle, distance and shape of the object. Maybe this guy wants things turned up more, to be more shiny or the lights to reflect stronger no matter the angle.
Iv been thinking it since launch but full on Star Wars mods from Creation Kit will probably turn Starfield into the best Star Wars game ever made
Wow. That’s freaking insane and so freaking awesome at the same time. If you didn’t know it was Starfield, you would think that it was a Star Wars game instead.
It would be pretty awesome if Bethesda partnered with Disney to do an actual ‘official’ Madalorian DLC for Starfield
Since Microsoft/Bethesda have Indiana Jones and Blade coming, they could always work out a deal with Disney for that. Definitely not out of the realm of possibility.
Which is impressive as this is without the actual mod tools
Game is absolutely ripe for some amazing mods going forward
Alright it’s time to jump back in. For those playing on PC what mods are you using/would recommend?
After the few things Jez said it sounds like Todd and his team are cooking up something very special indeed with Shattered Space. Should it surprise you? After all Oblivion had the amazing Shivering Isles and more, Fallout 4 had two expansions of which one very good, the other good. Skyrim I loved the expansions and I kinda forgot if Fallout 3 had any?
Hyped! And this while I haven’t even seen everything there is to see in this game yet, lol.
