Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

In stealth? But melee weapons get a 10x damage increase from stealth attacks.

Agreed . I adore Starfield, but it definitely needs some tweaks. Still having a fantastic time.

That’s true, but it’s still lower than shooting someone in the head while stealth. You also need to get very close. It’s more likely to get spotted than shoot and hide.

Yeah, there’s things that either just aren’t really worth using or aren’t utilising their full potential

Like food for example and the abundance of it has so much potential, especially in a future survival mode but in it’s current form is just kind of pointless

The good thing is the vast majority of it is things that could easily be patched or worst case scenario, modded

I mean… that kinda makes sense?

I’ll bet there is a hardcore mode coming down the line. This is just the beginning for a lot of things.

Yeah, but getting close is not worth it. Even with Dueling and Concealment.

In Skyrim you could at least get a tempo boost with rolling.

In Fallout 4 you could teleport behind an enemy.

In Starfield I would rather use a gun than getting close while moving like a snail.

They already did one for Skyrim and this game has even more mechanics/features that feel tailor made for a survival mode, i’d be very surprised if it doesn’t have one

One thing that Ive noticed after having read a lot of the negative reviews of Starfield is that there are tons and tons of reviewers that state the game offer X, Y or Z. However, the game does offer the vast majority of the things that reviewers claimed it didnt. The reviewer quite simply didnt understand the game and didnt bother asking how to do X, Y or Z, they just assumed it didnt exist.

Maybe there are things in the late game that help with that

One thing I that annoys me a bit is the lack of reports in random generated places. I just love to explore planets/moons and really don’t care visiting same generated places in diferent planets/moons, but the lack of reports and documents explaining a bit of what was happening there kinda frustrates me a bit. I found an installation that was infested with some alien species and was a bloodbath, however didn’t found any reports on how the situation escalated there. Maybe on a future update they could populate the random places with more reports or maybe I just suck on finding them. I closed 50 hs already and barely scratched the surface of the main plot.

To give the reviewers some credit which I hate doing, part of the reason the game feels so overwhelming is a lot of mechanics simply aren’t explained very well, there’s are no proper tutorials for things outside of maybe the ship combat,at least that’s one of the only ones I can remember of the top of my head

Like people are going 40 hours into this game and only finding out if you hold the left trigger on the cutter it breaks through resources far quicker or holding the start button loads you directly into the starmap

These are super basic things that should be told to you as soon as you get the cutter or go to space for the first time

That being said, I never trust reviewers, especially for a game of this scale to properly look into what mechanics are actually at their disposal and for this game, it feels like a perfect example of why devs often dumb games down

I used to enjoy CORE, but I got tired of the formula you described. Listening to one of the hosts drone on about a small aspect of a game as if it was the worst thing ever and the entire game sucks because of it became incredibly tiring. Just thinking about their conversation for Starfield is annoying me.

Okay… So I feel like quests in Neon are pretty underdeveloped in terms of choice.

Ryujinn? That one has had a lot of choice.

they weren’t going to look at optional tutorials and they would complain about forced tutorials

Didn’t get into that yet. Really wanted the gang quest line to contain more than 1 hour of gameplay (and hoped it would have been a faction-based mission instead of just a misc one).

It needed to be more fleshed out, and us having a deeper choice in relation to which gang we go with. Not ā€œhey, let’s cut a dealā€ choice.

Sadly, no. The only thing which would help is AMP. But it’s only active for 2min and I really don’t like using my resources for it.

Are there any quest lines that will help get an outpost setup? I haven’t engaged with that part of the game at all and I’d like to.

Finished my first factions with Freestar. Pretty tropey but it was immersive as hell. Goated reward too.

Will be doing Ryujin next !

Yep I agree about this, the procedural generation content can be actually decent but it needs some context, lore or explanation as to what is that facility or some interesting loot to really tie it together, so far they mostly feel like shooting galleries. I only found one where it was a solar energy farm and it had a group with a small fetch quest, the context around it made really worth doing despite the simplicity.
