I have been playing with Sarah and she’s a murder. She deals crazy amount of damage with her laser rifle.
What combat perks are you guys investing in? So far I only invested in ballistics and I don’t want to waste skill points in this tree (I want to slowly get to the final row of perks still). I’m not sure if I should invest in lasers or particle weapons or any specific gun type (like shotgun).
Do you remember the location? Also, was this a mission that you can accept off the mission kiosk?
I did this quest other day and was like, holy shit!!! What a quest. And to think that it was from a secret outpost in which you have to read a letter in order to activate the quest so you can start it. The Razerleaf is better than the Frontier but since I have the Kid Stuff trait, my Dad gave me a ship because he won it in a poker game. lol. This ship is better than the Razerleaf but only has two weapons but is stronger.
Which leads me to a question in general - the upgrading/ship building element. I added missiles to my new ship but it has an empty slot as it only has two weapons. Any way to add a third weapon? Thanks.
Go into “Build” mode and add whatever weapon you’re interested in. You may have to assign the weapon to a weapon group, which can be done by hitting RB on the same menu that shows you any errors in your ship . I think 3 weapon types is the limit.
I’ve stuck with ballistic pistols and rifles. Really enjoying the high level mods.
Unfortunately the value to sell price ratio is pretty low even if you’ve invested in the relevant skill. The higher level you are the better the gear you find in these radiant quests. I’m at a little over level 50 and a lot of the enemies in these missions have weapons that are worth over 10k with a few having weapons that are worth 50k+. About the biggest issue now is selling them as the stores don’t have enough credits and travelling to the different systems to sell at the trade authorities who seem to have the most credits for weapons is a pain. I guess the other option is finding a trade authority on a planet that has a planet cycle where 48 hours UTC is only a couple of hours on that planet
Just discovered that holding Start goes directly to Starmap.
Hope they add more shortcuts, I think Holding the View button could be a good shortcut for Inventory, it should be assignable.
Amazed by the amount of content in the game finished a first run at ~50 hours and didn’t even do any of the faction quests apart from the SySDef one and only New Atlantis side quests(which did mean I struggled credits wise early game).
Can’t see a second run completing all of the factions being any shorter.
Can see why it took the team so long to finish up dev and testing.
I got the mission from a Kiosk beside a science lab on planet Kurtz and it sent me to an abandoned mine on planet Lovell, both were in Alpha Centauri
I can’t wrap my head around what it is exactly but they definitely had design decisions that make the game better the more you play, it’s gotta be intentional, Todd even describe it that way. Most open-world games I get tired already 20, 30 hours in. I think it’s a big factor that there’s focus, despite the scale and scope, you can have your focus and stick to it for many hours without stressing about all the other systems and mechanics, and still feel like progress and meaningful play. I still haven’t bothered with shipbuilding, outposts, and any form of crafting lol
It’s been great to play this great game and be able to actually talk here about playing the actual game and not dealing with all the side crap going on.
From my perspective this game is a resounding success at every level and exceeded my expectations, Games like Starfield is why I still play games since the 1970’s.
I think exactly the same. That’s why people comparing it to BG3 are totally missing the point, Starfield feels like a foundation where a lot of different kinds of content can be built on. Luckily people open to play the game is enjoy the game massively. And I am pretty sure it is being a success despite the vocal minority.
I find this episode of CORE very telling of what is going on with the opinion of the game , Scott, the main host of the podcast is loving it, then you have the other two, one is the typical cynical guy who loves to see the negative things in the games. The other one prefers not to play the game now because he feels conditioned by all the negative media and drama around the game right now.
Lasers - It’s a space game so some pewpew felt right.
Shotguns - Can’t go wrong with shooting someone in the face with a shotgun.
After that I’m not sure… I’ve been spending my points in other areas first, wanted to get the Commerce, Scavenging, lockpicking etc. up early f.e. The earlier the better for those skills, making and saving a lot of credits.
Yeah, it feels different from other open world games indeed. It’s not clearing a map.
I was deep into playing Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey right up until Starfield released and I was a bit concerned that it would be too much big open world gaming at once. But that was not an issue, this is very different and I feel no open world fatigue at all.
The more you put into the game, the better it becomes indeed.
I’d say stick with Ballistics as there are a boatload of these types of weapons compared to the other types.
I’m around lvl 45 and have 4 points in Duelling and 4 points in Rifle Certification.
Would like to invest into the Tier 3 skills, but for now it’s enough.
I prioritize leveling Concealment, Spacesuit Design and Weapon Engineering and it was worth it.
Something similar happened to me in Akila, when town mayor gave me a mission to visit remote farm and pick up evidence. When I finished with the farm, I decided to explore a bit. Now, nearest Unknown location was huge abandoned complex full of Spacers, but also a lot of contraband items worth a fortune was there.
Btw I think melee combat is straight up bad.
- You can’t upgrade any melee weapon
- Melee combat in very clunky and slow
- You need way too many skills to have your build online
Even as a stealth character it’s better to use a gun than melee.
I think a bunch of things need tuned/changed imo
Game is great but would be so much better with a few tweaks here and there
