Not really a new trend, been happening for a long time now, if people are willing to pay more a lot more for a few extra days then it’s just sensible business
People who are buying the game without GP will have to spend $100 or whatever to get early access + first dlc
GP users can get early access + dlc for $35 or whatever, it’s not like being on GP doesn’t have it’s benefits and you’re still getting the game Day 1, the standard edition that is, so…
I can understand why some people might find it a bit annoying but again, it’s just sensible business, the amount of early access copies and premium editions they sell is simply too much to ignore
I don’t remember that. I know the modders that mod BGS games are very talented. Many of them get hired by Bethesda.
I can just imagine it now a couple years down the line, modders will mod an entire Fallout Game onto one of the planet in Starfield. They already doing it now in Fallout 4 with Fallout London, so just imagine the stuff they can do with an entire Planet in Starfield.
A entire Fallout Planet with it’s own quest and story and everything.
It’s why i think most of the things that people want will be possible via mods support.
Starfield will have very long lasting legs, and will be play for decads after it release.
Fallout 4 and Skyrim still has amazing mods support and is still played till this day. Starfield will be no different. It will even be bigger, and last even longer IMO.
As long as expansions are included the Premium upgrades are well worth it. I wouldn’t pay just for early access or cosmetics, but as I get something I would buy anyway like proper expansions it’s a no brainer.
One thing I always dislike about so many mod showcases is how they just replace all the trees for the exact same type for absolutely no reason what’s so ever. All the pine trees around the opening area are just gone.
It’s funny, the only mods I ever use are bugfixes and new content. Idgaf about the graphics mods, mostly because they more often than not ruin the feel of the game in different ways.
I don’t mind an update to the textures and even the looks of the trees/grass, but I prefer mods that do a good job at updating the look while keeping things where they should be.
This comparison goes over some mods on Xbox and some of them do a good job at keeping the right look for the area without adding too much.
Agreed, it’s about way more than just graphics. But I do think they matter a lot. Had Starfield visually been like Fallout 4 I would have been disappointed, not gonna lie. Wouldn’t you have been?
I’m starting to wonder if press will even get to preview it, you know like how they did have for Fallout 4. We’re two months away from release, it’s all a bit unusual. I think press by now had previews out for Fallout 4?
The previews will be built into the review cycle. They will get codes a few weeks ahead of launch, and halfway through they will be allowed to talk about the first 10 or 15 hours or something. Then on the embargo they can talk about the full game.
This sort of thing is fairly common these days.
Edit: Or maybe it’s playable at Gamescom, as Xbox and Bethesda were just announced as going.
