I actually wanted to use a gif of that, but couldn’t find one.

I hope they have dynamic HUD options in the game. So that when you explore and nothing is going on the HUD is gone and once there’s action.

Or better yet, like RDR2, with one button press you make the HUD show up when you want and it goes away after a few seconds. Perfect for immersion, perfect for OLED.

Did people really say that about Red Dead Redemption 1 or 2?

I love those games and love exploring stuff like that.

Such a strange feeling, we’re really getting a mainline Bethesda game in just 2 months, feels wild that it will be September too, usually their games release on November for a long time now.

Oblivion was March back in the day! Fallout 3 was October so it’s really just been Skyrim, Fallout 4 and 76 in November (and Starfield pre-delay).

I am super curious if there are weather conditions too. Maybe I misremember but wasn’t there a sort of (sand)storm in the Direct? I wonder if there will be a rain and such too. But I don’t want any review to tell me that, I’ll find out myself. Probably won’t read any review to begin with.

There definitely are weather conditions. There is a sandstorm in the direct and also lightning. Todd said in the Xcast interview that there are weather effects too, as well as stuff like radiation.

Hell yeah, good stuff! Thanks man.

Yeah Todd mentioned trying to escape a sandstorm on xcast. I know we also saw rain, lightning etc

Different question, I know we can build settlements, but can we farm? Like turn this into a farming simulator. Like live out my Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons fantasy in space.

If not, hopefully in the next Elder Scrolls, I can farm and protect my crops from a gang of Orcs.

If they built on Fallout 4’s systems, then maybe. Fallout 4 had farming it just was that we only planted and collected the food, while we assigned someone to take care and grow it.

Remember that whatever Bethesda don’t do, Modders will. Starfield will be played for 20 years lol.

You will see all mods imaginable.

Remember how in Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 3 you can zoom out quite far and also zoom in quite close in third person camera view? I really like that. I think Fallout 4 had it too, but I’m not 100% sure on that. I hope we can still do this. They didn’t show it, maybe because it’s such a standard thing by now, but still.

@Staffy this is as far and as close as Fallout 4 camera can be moved.

I did think of modding, but was wondering about officially.

If I’m not mistaken there was a mod for Fallout 3, where a modder was building settlements and you could make bases or the like.

Then unfortunately his source code was stolen, yet Bethesda liked that and made their own version for Fallout 4.

I also could be completely mistaken, I just remember it was a very promising mod and the modders months of work was stolen, but didn’t want to start all over.

I don’t really like this new trend of the upgraded versions of games getting access before the regular versions.

People are already spending 70$ on this game they shouldnt be waiting longer than the upgraded versions. GPU is also the highest tier sub for Xbox users. Why make the subscribers feel second rate? And on a holiday weekend… low blow.

I paid $300 dollars for the Constellation Edition, and I agree about getting the to play at the same time, especially because of Day 1 fixes. Am I going to get one September 1st? Or will I have to wait for September 6?

I don’t agree that us GPU members are being treated as second rate, because they’re getting the game without having to pay extra. The only way I can see that is if Microsoft wasn’t putting their games on the service, or only putting them there for a short time before everyone loses access.

GPU subscribers can get early access with $10 for Game Pass and then $30 dollars for the upgrade, which is still only $40 dollars and far less than buying the game. It’s a fair deal, especially since you’re getting the first expansion included as well. You’re not just paying for early access.

The games before that could be even closer, but this is fine. Hopefully Starfield has the option too. But if not, what they showed during the Direct looked great. I love it when games place the camera close to the character. In RDR2 i always use the closest third person view.
