Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

Series X is powerful but again, we are still very early in this gen and there hasn’t been that many games that have truly tested Series X or PS5

We certainly haven’t had a game like Bethesda where there is so many various systems working in tandem on a scale like that and the further we go into the generation the more and more devs are going to try and take advantage of features that will heavily limit what the consoles can do framerate wise

The visuals of that game during battle POP amazingly well with the 60fps frame rate. Even though 60fps has 0 gameplay benifits the animation and style judt feels so much better. Thats not to say 30fps isnt finr either but the battle animations and combat in 60fps enhance that game greatly. Sure everyday walking around and socialising the 60fps isnt that noticeable but in combat its very much an improvment.

Would guys mind a delay to 11/11/23 for more Polish.

Depends what the more polish accomplishes. You can polish a game for 20 years if you want.

The game is already getting more polish, right now. You don’t delay a game for an entire year just for “polish” And honestly, Starfield looked like a game that was 6-7 months from release showing real gameplay.

This is a massive game. I don’t know what the state it is in but is delaying it by 6 months from the initial date enough. A lot of delayed games that got released in 2022 were delayed for a year or I’m misremembering.

That date is what I expected since the delay last year so it wouldn’t bother me at all

I’ll already have too much to play the first 6 months anyway

Yeah, I get that. But it’s a game that’s been in development for 6+ years by an extremely experienced and talented team. And it’s a genre they’ve excelled at.

I’m not denying their talent but I think both Bethesda and Xbox know this should be relatively bug free. Their games are massive so bugs are expected.

But the short term pr hit for a massive holiday polished release is nothing.

If BGS really think it needs it, it needs it, out of our hands anyway. But yes, I absolutely would mind. I’d drop any of the upcoming other games once I have Starfield. I’m that excited for a new BGS game in years and a new IP at that since…forever basically.

I don’t think announcing a dedicated Starfield show would have been necessary if a delay was on the cards, especially when we’re in the six months that it’s supposed to drop.

If the game gets delayed again beyond July of this year then it is obvious that it was never about polish…

It is about adding essential feature or making sure something very critical is actually working

That being said, I am sure it is gonna launch before July this year

Why would they even go out of their way to give it its own presentation soon if they delay it yet again? When they could just as easily wait until E3 if it is delayed yet again? Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, imo. If anything, this should be seen as proof that the game is on track.

The only question that remains is…when?

June is possible, it’s rather very soon after Redfall and a bit unusual. On the other hand, it should not matter with Game Pass being a thing now. Besides MS has released first party games close to each other before, in 2021.

Other companies do it too, Sony released Ghost and TLOU2 super close to each other, didn’t they?

heyyy!! long time no see!

I don’t think a delay will have much of an impact on the game’s language options, but I’m not a developer.

People keep saying this…but sometimes you need to put it out and let the community polish it for you.

ITs impossible for even 100 -1000 testers to polish up everything. As long as its in a good state you can put it out and then continue to support it throughout.

Sometimes its better to release it for public. Bethesda games are never ever going to be bug free launch day. Anyone who thinks so is an idiot. Skyrim fallout etcc always get polished post release.

Noone is saying is should be Fallout 76 or Cybperunk 2020…but I think they could release Starfield tomorrow it would be in a better state than those 2. MS won’t allow Starfield to be that bad. But they’ll be fine with something very playable.

Personally I’d prefer it. I’m way too busy with outdoor activities in the spring/summer timeframe to dedicate as much time to Starfield as I’m sure I’ll want to.

A November release would be perfect in that regard. It’s the time of year I spend more time indoors anyway, and what better way to do that than really immersing myself in a game like Starfield.

The only reason id want starfield in late 2023 is due to the sheer volume of games coming out first half and the main one being TOTK. I think a starfield in april would be overkill. June or july is perfect though. November for me is a last resort if ms have nothing for 2nd half of the year.

No problem with it in general. Personally, im hoping for November. The first six months of 2023 are stacked and there’s no new COD game this Fall. Late May is Suicide Squad, early June is Diablo IV and late June is Final Fantasy XVI for PlayStation 5. I don’t need another massive time sink in the same five week span so im hoping for November. Plus, I want Microsoft to spread out their games. Subscription or not, spread out your games. I don’t want any gaps or droughts. Even if a first party game isn’t for me, I still don’t want any empty quarters.

I don’t mind if it gets delayed till later in the year IF it needs it. I think it’s important for Starfield to nail the landing and come in relatively well polished (I’m not expecting perfection for a game this complex), it’s one of Microsoft’s biggest games and they already have plenty coming out in the first half of 2023 so it’s not as if it’s absence would be felt terribly.
