Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

Well, as much as that’s possible :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Ah yes, it started with that. But when Jez, Grubb also started to say this it became even more…real, I guess.

Really hoping that there’s a 60fps performance mode.

60 FPS is useless on a game like this

Its not useless is it. Especially when moving around large terrain and soaking in the atmosphere and during the heavy action sequences. But its one of those games thats slow paced enough that it isnt vital. But i will say 60fps for space combat would definitely enhance it. Thats onw area where they can do 60fps due to less rendering.

So while i think walking scanning exploring stuff is fine at 30fps…space combat would be vastly superior at 60

Bare minimum unlocked framerate

The difference between 30fps and 60fps especially in first person is very noticeable. It’s absolutely not useless. We will be exploring plenty I’m sure but during combat you move and look around much more, it’s gonna be jarring in 30fps. Definitely gonna take some getting used to. Especially if you just happen to have played a first person game in 60fps.

But if they have to sacrifice too much visual bells and whistles then I would choose the graphics too. But if they do have a performance mode with as little cutbacks as possible, that would be ideal. I really wouldn’t call 60fps useless, not in any game.

This is utter nonsense, I’m not 60fps or die like some people but that is just straight up false

Even something like Persona which is mostly turn based combat feels and looks better at higher framerates that 30

How so? There’s shooting/gunplay in the game and I don’t want 30fps or better still, 24fps since we know that there will be drops and frame pacing issues like there is in every game. Even more so, it’s Xbox Series fucking X which is more than capable of performing at 60fps. There’s literally not a single reason why Starfield shouldn’t at the very least offer a 60fps performance mode.

I’m totally into space games. This one will be a welcome addition to the sparse Sci-fi games out now.

Good thing it has third person then.

I want 60fps too but depending on the scale and complexity of systems in play, there might be plenty of reasons

Depends if it’s CPU limited or not

I’m fine with a locked 30FPS, currently playing Arkham Knights and the 30FPS doesn’t bother me at all and it also didn’t bother me in A Plague Tale: Requiem, as long as it’s stable I’m fine with it, especially for 30FPS, I can deal with an unstable 60FPS but not an unstable 30FPS as that’s just nauseating. I’m also assuming that Starfield will launch with a 1080P performance mode that will have an unstable 60FPS at best and I’d rather have a higher resolution at a stable 30FPS over a very blurry game, now if it’s anything like Witcher 3, nice resolution at 60FPS I’ll take that over 30FPS even if if means not having Ray tracing and all that stuff I don’t really care about, I just can’t deal with low resolutions that well anymore unless the performance is almost perfect.

There are plenty of valid reasons why the game might not run at 60 on consoles.

With the way the game is shaping up to be, meaning a really amibtious game, it being in 30FPS on console would not be surprising. The absence of an Xbox One version is a bit telling I think.

For me, the Series X is more than capable in handling current generation only games at 60fps. If Starfield doesn’t give me that option, I will be disappointed simply because coming into this generation, 60fps as the standard was and still is one of my expectations.

We’ll see what happens.

I believe there will be a Performance mode.

Going forward I don’t expect any exclusive game to be on the Xbox one :stuck_out_tongue:

I think smaller games like The Wandering Tower (Project Belfry) could still be on Xbox One, or even Hi-Fi Rush depending on what the game is like (and Minecraft Legends, which is already confirmed to be on Xbox One I believe).

But yeah, for big games we already know that crossgen is essentially over. Starfield, Redfall, Forza, Hellblade, Avowed, Contraband, Fable, Perfect Dark, Everwild, The Outer Worlds 2 and State of Decay 3 are all confirmed to be next-gen only, and I highly doubt Xbox would do what Sony did and add last-gen versions later.
