Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

Bethesda games were never that buggy on Xbox consoles tbh. PlayStation consoles had it super buggy. Fallout damn near didn’t run on them.

Less platforms to develop for mean less bugs imo.

I still believe that Starfield could have launched on 11.11.22 and would have pre-acquisition. But now quality and polish matters above all else, so Xbox and Bethesda agreed to give it even more time to make sure they get it right.

Expecting zero bugs is unrealistic, especially for a game like Starfield, but I am expecting the most polished BGS game ever.

What’s with these new release date being 2024 assumptions all of a sudden? Peeps trying to 1 up Hindle or something?

Usual speculation disclosure here and on internet :unamused:

Because it is Xbox. People are afraid of it doing good.

And right after Phil said the 2023 games are tracking well, if anything it should be reason for some optimism, just a little bit.

Starfield being delayed to 2024 is highly, highly unlikely.

If it did get delayed, it would be to Fall 2023, and then it would need to get delayed AGAIN (for a third time) to slip to 2024.

Given that the game has been fully playable for like a year and a half already, I really am expecting it to hit first half of 2023.

I think a delay past “first half of 2023” has a fairly high chance of happening but if it does I 100% expect it to just move to 11/11/23

I find a 2024 delay extremely unlikely and im not sure why people are even considering it

I think it’s 30% gets delayed, 70% doesn’t get delayed. If there was a possibility that it might slip that far, they would have just done what they did with Halo and said “2023” without a window. The fact they said “first half” tells me they are very confident. But obviously anything is possible as we’ve learned.

I think Starfield will come out eventually :fire:

A worst case scenario already is late next year, I don’t understand at all why 2024 is being thrown around now. Haven’t seen what Matty talks about, but I doubt he’s guessing 2024, if he is…then I don’t know what to tell ya.

I kind of think the “worst case scenario” for Starfield was already moving from its original date, so I doubt a delay beyond that is even a question at this point. But I guess I’ll eat my words if it happens.

I just feel like if it was going to come out in the first half they would have a release date by now.

Nowadays you don’t announce a release date until you know for sure. It’s already been delayed once.

Yeah wouldn’t expect a release date reveal until like 3 months before launch or when the second big gameplay reveal hits.

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from. Several reasons like how they have announced it for the first half of next year, Todd saying they were putting the finishing touches on it and I know I should not get too hung up on those words but he would not say that if it were to move into late next year, let alone 2024.

But at the same time last year he almost scoffed at the question how sure he was about the 11-11-22 release date and now look. But that was still when covid was very much a thing. Todd definitely can be overconfident though. I don’t see the point of videos like those by Matty anymore. If it moves into holiday 2023, it is what it is, it’s out of our hands anyway.

These traces of wheeled vehicles :eyes:

Either my sense of scale is way off, or that would be a rather tiny vehicle. Buggy-sized, perhaps? Which would be fine by me.

I remember in the gameplay stuff there was a robot that would exit your ship and do stuff in your landing area. It seems to enter and exit via the ramp, so it’s possible there is just a version with tires and not an actual vehicle. That said with the scale of the maps and the procedurally generated nature of them I wouldn’t be surprised it there was some additional vehicles.
