Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

[Tinfoil hat on]

They finished TES6 and are gonna put it on a Starfield planet, and that’s why they needed a delay :exploding_head:

One of the things that looked good to me was the spaceship combat. The way the enemy ships break apart and then explode was pretty cool. And the sound for it all was on target.

I file this under the category “things I didn’t know I wanted, but now desperately need.”

“My hope is a tidally locked planet. A scorched desert on one side, a frozen eternal night on the other. Between is a forever sunrise, a ribbon of life.”

That’s the topic title of this Reddit post, which also has some planet renders of what a planet like that might look like from space:

I could be nitpicky and point out the no sound in space thing, but I won’t

…well I will, but I get why games and movies do it

Interstellar got away nicely without having sound in space, but I imagine a video game intentionally without sound would just never work hehe

this is funny

I really looking forward to this game. looks for the most part very good the only thing that will keep me from playing is if they force you into base upkeep like they did in fallout 4 since I really do not care for it. I really like the wide-open gameplay in skyrim fallout 3 and other Bethsheba games.

There seems to be a few creatures in that shot.

The Moon is tidally locked to us. Mercury has wildly extreme temperature gradients too. It also is basically tidally locked to the Sun. I think some fans are thinking in too obvious a way in a sense. I’d personally like to see planets with sheets of thick ice covering the surface and make us melt thru it to find an ocean of alien life like some suspect we’d find on moons in our own solar system. Going down in the ocean on Earth is already super eerie, but add to that the thick layer of ice above the ocean and it might feel extra claustrophobic while exploring wild new creatures/habitats.

It could be earth

If ya check that part of the footage out again, those def aren’t any familiar animals. The horse looking thing in the still is, but the others aren’t. Don’t think we can actually go to Earth in the game based on what one of the leaks says.

They might play with climate change and nuclear war that lead to Earth’s Fallout

That would be disappointing but I’d totally understand why. Maybe in the sequel they could utilize Flight Sim’s tech for it :philwins:

He called it “old earth” in that IGN interview I think, “artifacts of old earth”.

I think his actual phrasing was ‘old Earth artifacts’, but might be wrong. There’s a leak that says we can’t visit Earth in the game. I assume the Flight Museum thing is hosted by the Constellation team who is trying to find those old Earth artifacts and the other mysterious artifacts too.

Wasn’t there a rumor at one point about us being able to party up with other characters? I want this game to be what Andromeda failed to be.

I feel like this game will not have earth, due to some catastrophic event, or something else. Mainly because they know if they do it, they will be on the hook for criticism over everything they don’t make perfectly

The amount of nitpicking, especially from certain crowds (you know who I mean), would be constant and insufferable

Yeah that’s how I feel too. We know what Earth is like, we have perfect reference, so if it’s not convincing enough in-game it’d be anticlimactic and immersion breaking.

In that 4chan leak (with Cydonia and ending) it was mentioned that Earth was ruined. I think some modders will initiate Project Earth or something.

Anyone else hoping Starfield has many more robots and not just Vasco? I love BGS robots man. I genuinely felt bad when I had to destroy a few that had gone rogue, except for those that are aggressive as fuck and are hellbent on destroying you. But there’s just something charming about BGS robots, I should say Fallout robots I guess.

Well, this robot seems to be a moddable companion. But I am not sure if there will be any other robot in game. There should be simply because it was implied that Vasco is some kinda of factory model or something.
