Cool to see Phil and Sara working to create relationships with more publishers but the sad thing is you will still see dumb weirdos questioning why they are the ones leading Xbox.
I’m thinking unless there were already Xbox versions ready and made that the only thing we’ll see before FF XIV are some HD2D ports.
Let’s admit that Phil and Sarah have effectively worked on building better relations with Asian Publishers, i mean look at Sega, Capcom and Bandai Namco. Let’s not forget Spike Chunsoft, Koei Tecmo and FromSoftware.
Heck even Marvelous, which was a surprise for me. I would include Level-5 because of Ni No Kuni, but i don’t know if we would get anything else other than that series.
They did manage to have a day and date Xbox Series version added to Dragon Quest Dai which is still under development so I’m wondering if they managed that for other games that aren’t announced yet.
At TGS I predict all the currently released 2DHD remakes not on Xbox, Trial of Mana, and FF7 Remake are announced for Xbox. Maybe Final Bar Line as well. EDIT: I’m feeling frisky, so I’ll add TWWWY and Neo TWEWY to this list as well.
I’m personally not expecting FF7 purely because of Sony nonsense but im happy to be wrong
I can definitely see a lot of the smaller games getting announced there though, probably with GP deals too
I would be down for both Triangle Strategy, Live a Life and Octopath Traveler 2 on GP as well as the Mana games, although i would not push do much on the latter in this case. As for FF7, i agree on your take its more possible to see ff16 than ff7 remake in my opinion.
Well theres rumours of Smtv coming to gamepass next year.
Im just saying FF16 is too big of a game to ignore unless theres contractual obligations
SE surely would want that game to sell more. Just as a brand its embarassing for them. Flagship game and its doing sub 3m. While zelda diablo elden ring hogwarts all these huge games selling multiple x more.
Why is there almost no buzz about ff16? I remember when ff7 came out there was alot of post release buzz. All these youtube videos about how great ff7 was and how great the battle system was. There seems to be zero post release buzz for ff16…
FF games don’t have good legs anymore
Not even FF7R which was received extremely well had legs, 16 despite a great metacritic was much more divisive with fans so I’m not expecting anything different there
But yeah in terms of buzz, it’s basically non-existent at this point
That’s because the PS Fans are too busy talking about Xbox’s StarField.
Sounds like its happening sooner or later. Well done Phil!
The often cited point why SE games miss Xbox is because they don’t sell on Xbox. I wonder though, if Epic for whetever reason only released every third Fortnite update on Playstation, skipping the major ones, would engagement be high on Playstation? Would there be no distrust between the publisher and the audience?
I think that’s just partially due to this year. It’s been just an overall great year for games where it just like each game gets 2 weeks until the next game.
Even in my circle of more reg gamers who don’t follow much news Zelda isn’t even talked about much right now.
ffxv sold at least a million copies on xbox, ff7re and ff16 could probably have done similarly or better.
With selling 1 million when the Xbox name wasn’t in the best shape as well…
I expect with how yakuza/ and persona are doing on Xbox ff7 r or 16 would have done just fine on Xbox
First day as well. Not to mention it was on Game Pass for yonks.
I think it’s likely due to the fact that 7 might’ve been the most desired remake in gaming for years. I can’t think of many other games with such nostalgic force behind it. Both games - 7 & 16 - are great in their own ways. 7 is just unique in its characters, world, and storytelling whereas 16 could legitimately be mistake for most grim dark fantasy.
Yes, this is likely the answer. FF VII holds a special place in the gaming history of loads of gamers who played the original release, as the franchise really blew up alongside the PS1.
