Sony buying Bungie for $3.6 billion, Destiny 2 and future projects will remain multiplatform

No disrespect to Hindle but where’s Prog??? Did he get banned again???

Sony

If you mean Sony, I wouldn’t be surprised. They would have all of Marvel and DC basically so to speak.

I had this thought too but presumably this was a reaction to them hearing about MS wanting to acquire A-B, which did start a few months ago.

So basically, beyond Destiny potentially not coming to Game Pass anymore, what does it really change if all future games will stay multiplatform as well ?

Why do I feel like this is a tweet of Phil like damn we missed them oh well treat them well Sony! haha it’s so weird how Phil is like this yet I don’t think anyone from Sony came out and said anything remotely like this about Bethesda and Activision.

This buyout means that MS is right to invest in gaming (and probably that ABK will go through too).

For those curious, these are the prices standardized for a 100 employee studio based on bidding price:

Zenimax: $375,000,000

ABK: $687,000,000

Bungie: $450,000,000

You just know there’s a Destiny TV series/movie incoming. For Sony that makes a lot of sense and I’d be amazed if that didn’t happen.

MS buys AB. Sony buys Bungie. The Console War is over. The Acquisition War has only just begun. Expect Apple, Amazon and Tencent to take note of today’s events and enter the battle at some point.

If future games will remain multiplatform, you can bet that PlayStation will have exclusive content.

Yeah, not good though. They got Marvel, let Xbox have DC because there’s no way Sony would not lock those up. Truly hope a bidding war ends in MS favor, if it were to happen.

And Destiny 2 is Phil’s favorite game lmaaaao

So Xbox had around $3 billion in their pocket to spend it on Bungie. Xbox is not done with their gaming acquisition, and now have $3 billion to spend it on something else. Just saying :eyes:

This probably kills or at least seriously dampers speculation that Sony would acquire Sega, Capcom, or Square Enix, as that is a pretty significant chunk of money to commit. I could be wrong, but it also seems to be a double down on prioritizing western focus over the Japanese Market.

They’re going after Phil, he’s gonna go buy Square and make FF Xbox exclusive.
