Sony buying Bungie for $3.6 billion, Destiny 2 and future projects will remain multiplatform

HOLY SHIT! Yea this generation is gonna be interesting AF! Straight up war…

Destiny is free to play who cares if its not coming to game pass lmao.

Saw people say something about Game Pass and Destiny and like it doesnt matter? The game isnt tied to any retail model besides expansions.

Not going to lie. As someone who’s an Xbox and PlayStation gamer, Microsoft and Sony can acquire EVERYONE for all I care because it’s still far better than Tencent, NetEase, Apple, Google, Amazon and Facebook getting any of them.

WB please including the licenses

The best part of these deals are the tweets from other publishers/devs :joy:

Honestly this is a good thing. I want competition in the industry and also this makes Activision easier. Regulator will see the market leader spending billions and be like why should we stop number 3.

Tencent is already acquiring everyone under the sun, Aplle and Amazon? Guys, stop with the FAANG fantasies, they don’t care nor understand gaming, for them shelling billions for a game maker is nuts.

Phil’s recent Bing searches:

“Jim Ryan’s favorite game”

“Where to get a PS5”

No cope, this does thing for me even if the deal was exclusive. What I am excited about though, is that we know Xbox was still talking to developers regardless of ActiBliz (obviously) and will now will be even more aggressive, presumably.

And thats the end of call of duty on PlayStation when contracts expire…

Where’s Prog???

I think you wanted to quote someone else?

Like what happened with the movie/TV industry, services got better and more convenient, value-driven, plenty of content and quality content too, global presence and localization, etc. People crying about consolidation can continue to do so but it will objectively be better in so many ways, especially consumer and value centric ones.

Doesn’t sound very organic to me.

People are talking about a an acquisition war beginning between Xbox and Sony… how ? Why is Bungie being compared on the same scale as ABK ?!

I KNEW Sony was gonna respond. Yea Bungie is not AB but Bungie gives Sony that multiplayer/shooter entry. I want COMPETITION and I am GLAD Sony did this. MAYBE they can make a Halo killer?(doubt it).
