it was obvious from his reaction to AB acquisition that he was trying to paint an image, that “Sony is forced to sin”
That’s bollocks, Sony has a bigger stake than MS in gaming. It’s becoming an urban legend like the japanese acquisitions illegal for western companies.
for Khalif, it is not a podcast, just a tweet.
Small indie company Sony
Good, because otherwise Sony can just go get some real big ones(if they are willing) and that’s not good.
The more they do the easier it is for Xbox to acquire Take 2 and EA and Sega
Jeff Grubb thinks MS will do more acquisitions this year.
given that I don’t think it will be another publisher but maybe one of the long-rumored studios. maybe IOI? or Asobo?
Just saw the tweet, it is just a speculation he made.
Isn’t Capcom doing really well on their own though? I mean Bethesda were having some issues with Zenimax, it wasn’t as great as it used to be there, AB we all know and Bungie wanted it themselves.
Is there any hurry for Capcom?
How does this post contradict my post? Like I said MS cant really make large scale purchases until the AB deal. Sony is probably using that to their advantage. Of course the more studios Sony buys the more likely Microsoft can buy larger pubs before the deal is finalized.
Nobody said MS is just gonna sit. But a large acquisition like AB? Again I doubt it…
I don’t think it’s a speculation, according to grubby there are rumors being circulated around in insiders circles. and he didn’t want to talk about them.
and Jeff usually is very careful about leaking Sony stuff on the contrary to leaking MS stuff.
I don’t see where it’s said MS can’t move while AB is not finalized.
During the show he said he heard rumblings but that he couldn’t talk about it. But he now specifically mentioned Capcom or nothing like that?
It could be literally anyone else too, MS and Sony are not the only one looking.
He didn’t mention anything.
Read my post again,… I clearly said LARGE acquisitions. Similar to AB or EA. Not that MS cant make ANY purchases at all. They can clearly still buy an IOI or Crystal Dynamics.
Capcom is perfectly fine in compare to SFV funding days. Monster Hunter and Resident Evil are delivering great profits, so they are in no need for help. Bethesda was showing sign of trouble with Fallout 76 debacle, taking moneyhat from Sony, and was about to close a studio or two.
Capcom would fall under large? Even if it can’t be compared to AB. If they are able I can’t see a scenario where Xbox just calmly sits by and let’s Capcom go to the competition. Phil didn’t like how they missed out on SFV, I’m sure he’ll do what he can. It’s going to be an… interesting year.
Makes sense.
