Sony buying Bungie for $3.6 billion, Destiny 2 and future projects will remain multiplatform

makes sense, but still doesn’t justify the high price. for me at least. will have to wait and see on this one.

this stems from my belief that Sony isn’t the company/isn’t in the position to make good faith deal. when MS does something stupid like betting on a sub-service with more than $80B it is because they’re MS. and they just have money sitting around.

Destiny HUGE. Especially the community. I dont care for Destiny but it does have a huge community. The price can be argued as overpaying but I still see it as a good purchase by Sony as they BADLY needed a credible developer in the FPS/MP arena. But like you said we’ll have to wait and see.

I think whoever negotiated the deal for Bungie played an absolute blinder. Not only have they got a very high price but it seems like they virtually keep their autonomy.

Capcom isn’t AB, EA or TT level. So no they are not “large” but mid-level imo.

It’s always how much is it worth to the buyer and this instance it is worth a lot to Sony. They basically don’t have nothing in the space atm and Bungie helps rectify that.

I also forgot to mention, Sony most likely gonna make Destiny multimedia. There’s that also…

Shit man, Matty is a cool dude but he’s really big on the click bait now. With caps in the video title he goes Destiny 3, Matter are all exclusive? This when the exact opposite has been stated. Come on dude, you can do better.

Bungie was my top want for Microsoft. This is a great get by Sony even if the games stay multi-platform which I don’t necessarily believe once we move past Destiny.

Capcom isn’t even as big as King. So many of us are stuck viewing the industry from a very traditional console centric lense. King generates over twice the revenue that Capcom generates annually and for certain years as high as 3x Capcom’s revenue.

So for MS Capcom would be small change basically, lol.

I’ve had to explain to people that Bungie haven’t been involved with Halo for 10 years or so all day long. Never underestimate the ignorance of people, many are also just dumb and illiterate.

The reactions to Bungie have been surprising. I think people genuinely forgot they existed.

I think people lost interest due to Destiny burnout, but I do feel people will be intrigued about their new IP

even those who love Destiny and play it admit it’s just a job and a cheap addiction. I am going to disclaim I have never played it but I have seen Phil play it once and still don’t get the appeal besides liking to be inside a hamster wheel.

My thought on this is that Bungie leveraged MS and probably the A/B deal to get better terms out of Sony. Also it shows Sony’s direction is more western, GAAS, games and less towards Japan.

Also kind of okay with MS not reuniting with Bungie as it avoids that whole “take Halo away from 343 and give it back to Bungie” argument that some would try to push. I feel like that could be messy for both 343 and Bungie even if it is just trolling.

Ole Jim saying Sony going multi. Put Spiderman everywhere and you will make so much money

It’s very funny that they are talking about going multiplat and having cross gen games and doing PC releases, but paid Square Enix to put FFXVI on PS5 and only PS5. That game is gonna be the weakest selling FF I swear.

Is this in reference to the billion dollar price tag that was previously thrown around?
