Sony doesn’t just makes as a service, in fact those types of games are pretty new to them so I doubt we would see that
I really hope not. I know people want them to acquire them because of fromsoft. However, as someone who also enjoys anime and recently watched sony buy Crunchyroll and gut funimation and replace it with Crunchyroll being the only real service option available to me. I have a little bit of trepidation on if Sony also owns all the prominent companies who produce anime. As then they would essentially own the whole market.
Anime isn’t like videogames where you have a plethora of independent producers. For the most part large studios who produce and create the majority of anime we see. Yes, there are a few outliers. but its not really the same as its not a viable option for most.
bruh, funimation was so much better than crunchroll, but I do see sony want to invest more into anime and sony owns a massive cut of the music industry and I am guessing they want to exand that and KADOKAWA owns music
yeah it makes sense on why they would want Kadokowa. Just as a consumer I’m not a huge fan of the move. But it is what it is as they say.
No actual insider has even hinted at sn acquisition lol
I know I am just speculating
So now that it seems half of the industry and their mothers seems to be impliyng a konami acquisition…what would be you reaction?
I would be extremelly weird to me.
Personally I dont believe any of it, not because I dont believe SONY cant buy a publisher but because no one knew ABK, you know the biggest third party publisher in the entire world, was going to be acquire…not even a single hint and it does not matter how much Grubb says he heard MS was going to do something big months latter the acquisition was announced.
But yeah, if true, really weird choice.
I couldn’t give less of a shit about Konami ip tbh.
3 days ago it was konami, 2 days ago it was fromsoft, and yesterday it was kojima productions, today it’s konami again. Until we see a post from jim ryan saying we welcome ___ to our team, don’t even waste your time speculating. Does konami even have a developing team able to make anything bigger than yugioh?
.No no no you are right, it’s just that I found insiders obsession with konami interesting and weird haha.
If someone acquires Konami and brings back Suikoden then I’ll be happy. If someone acquires Konami and does not bring back Suikoden I will remind them they are garbage every day
Nobody in the gaming industry is going to acquire Konami, they have moved so far away from making games that there #1 and #2 source of revenue now comes from their fitness division of owning health clubs across Japan, and selling pachinko machines. And the one thing gaming related, everyone, including myself thought was going to be a mega hit was the F2P PES game. And we saw how that turned out, just laughably embarrassing. If anyone is acquiring anything Konami, it will be their gaming IP (probably for an exorbitant price, likely $billions) not the company itself.
Talked about Konami in another thread a few days ago and why it’s so, so, SO unlikely. I will copypaste here
The funny thing about this is everyone thinks Konami is just over there doing nothing and rotting away… When they are actually in “Capcom” mode right now making huge dosh on games like Momotaro, eBaseball, Bombergirl, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.
They decided to move into focusing on Japan only and it is working. Momotaro is one of the highest selling 3rd party games on the Switch and Bombergirl is a very popular (and very monetized) arcade game.
The premium here is higher than one would think… Also Sony would have to “clean house” a bit here. They’ll have to deal with Konami’s gambling stuff and their non gaming stuff like the fitness centers they own.
So all that money and effort for a workforce that is no longer used to making AAA games Sony expects and IPs that are more popular in internet bubbles than they actually are in reality.
Is the thought that Sony would be into Konami because of their GaaS platform - eFootball PES ?
Honestly I dont know. They dont even have developers to work on their own IPs.
Edit: I mean, the big ones like MGS or silent hill…but they do know how to squeeze money from them Ex: castlevania nft.
Thats what I found weird people saying “sony bought their ips” then how the F is konami supposed to make money?!
Thats the thing, I just cant see japanese pubs abandoning switch or prioritizing ps5 especially in their homeland. Unless they do the bungie deal approach.
This is Konami Digital Entertainment’s employee count as of 2020.
It’s just, like I said above… They do Japanese market focused games only now. Sony wouldn’t be even remotely interested.
And about their IPs… They literally do still use them. Selling merchandise, crossover content in their current games (Bombergirl has characters modeled after Konami IPs. They have a big breasted Belmont (Castlevania) named Sepia Belmont and some girl modeled after Contra for example), nefarious use like gambling machines and NFTs. Konami is more likely to keep these IPs close.
I lowkey thought you were kidding when you said that, but wow lol, this is straight out of some Hentai erotic manga
What just happened. Why are there cursed images on the forum
Lmao. She is more covered in the real game. That’s a figure so they make it lewd as possible so people will pony up the $250 for it
and the actual in game graphics look like this
But considering getting bombed in the game presents you with an image of their clothes blowing off… It’s not much better than your image lol. Yes, Bombergirl is far and away the horniest thing Konami has ever made . (The game is actually very well made and fun. It’s basically Bomberman MOBA and actually has an E-sport scene in Japan. But because it’s an arcade game they literally expect you to pay 110 yen per MATCH!!! on the PC port)
