Redfall Discussion Thread

looks like it’s probably releasing this year.

I don’t think it will have an entirely playable 3rd person view — its described as a “open-world co-op FPS”. At most, Redfall’s 3rd person will be restricted to certain weapons and abilities, like in Destiny.

This makes the most sense.

Knowing Arkane, I would be very surprised if Redfall had a third-person view for normal gameplay. Their whole thing is first-person immersion.

Definitely agree, and I honestly don’t even need a 3rd person view, was just reporting on what the streamer said during the segment.

It will be a very pleasant surprise if it actually comes out in 2022, but at this point I really don’t see how. We’ve seen literally nothing, the game till this point has zero marketing, and it’s a brand new IP from a studio that is not massive as far as popularity goes.

When I try to do the math, I really can’t see this game coming out after september, since fall and holidays will probably be packed to the brim with bigger games, even from microsofts side. And I can’t really see it coming out before september either, since brand new IP don’t drop with very little or no marketing, microsofts next event is probably june, will we see redfall in the middle of june, and have the game come out august / september? unlikely, imo if that happens it will really hurt the game, it’s impossible to gather interest for a game in a month.

Going with February 2023.

You’re presenting valid points, but I have one too. It’s Microsoft’s Marketing Team and they are very very poor at marketing. If the studio itself isn’t promoting then not much happens unless you are Halo (and even then their ability to capitalize on anything is horrible).

Doesn’t bethesda have any say in how they promote their games? It really seems to me if they actually release it with 1 or 2 months of marketing they are intentionally screwing over their own game, which I personally have a lot of optimism for.

Bethesda almost always relies on a partner to perform the bulk of their advertising, their marketing team is quite small. What advertising they are doing is likely being spent on all these updates on Starfield.

Recently look at Ghostwire Tokyo as an example of very little advertising and only a short period of time before release (and that was even with a partner).

I agree, even ghostwire tokyo had very little marketing, and even that got a gameplay trailer at least half a year before actual release, and we consider that little marketing, what can they do in the span of 2 months then?

I don’t think it’s coming in the next 2 months, I was thinking it is a September (my original thought on release date)/October timeframe.

I mean the earliest we will see something is june, unless they do something specifically for redfall earlier, september is 2 months away from june. 3 months, I’m dumb

I know that people want to be drowned in hype for games, but no game needs more than a months worth of advanced time to be marketed, even new franchises.

I think I’m on this team too. Show it in June, then again at GamesCom with deeper stuff at QuakeCon. Then release it in Sept-Oct. Plenty of time and appearances!

If they stick to Summer, September because thats technically still Summer. I have a feeling it will be early October. Spooky season, gives a little extra room for last minute polishing. Distant enough from Starfields launch.

Between Feb to May 2023.

Gives MS marketing team to get there head out of thier ass.

I have a feeling it’ll be August. Full reveal in June at their showcase with a release in the end of August.

I don’t that we will get that lucky with that release date, but I sure hope so.

My money is still on October. It just makes sense to have Forza Motorsport in September, Redfall in October and Starfield in November, similar to what we had last year.
