I was told development problem was Xbox exclusive.
I was told Sony had to held back because of the ABK deal and a second showcase is needed.
Turns out making live service games is difficult and not a platform specific thing.
No need to worry, extremely high quality GAAS offerings such as Destruction All Stars and Fairgame$ can fill the gap while Naughty Dog gets its act together.
Man what the hell is going on at PS studios?
Japan Studio shutdown, Pixel Opus shutdown, Media Molecule and Dreams, only CGI trailers for GaaS games at their showcase besides Spiderman, Factions in dev hell, Deviation Games layoffs, âŚ
The shift to GaaS for Playstation is giving me Xbox Kinect vibes.
Jason should have waited for Tom Henderson to post âI saw Factions 2 gameplay and it looked amazing, get hype everyone!!â and THEN pounced. For maximum destruction.
Next gen happened. Go big or go home.
Honestly if one more story like this happens im gonna believe Jim Ryan when he says no Call of Duty is a death sentence for Sony.
good thing MS already had their growing pains with GAAS and have a lot of them from XGS and Bethesda and soon to be ABK whenever that deal closes.
This will be Jim Ryanâs legacy. He pretty much was handed the keys to a Ferrari and he may have crashed it.
As much as I dislike Jim Ryan, I do have to wonder how much of this is coming from above him? I really donât know how the divisions inside Sony are split, but it wouldnât shock me if this push for GaaS is coming from Sony proper.
lol
I donât know why but I do find it funny theyâre apparently just presenting all their GAASes to Bungie and saying âI-is this good?â I know they bought Bungie as their âGAAS captainâ though.
he realizing what Phil spencer already knew that Console ceiling is limiting and that they need to expand to other thing which is what GAAS is doing because they (Sony) have been doing High budget single player games that are 100+ million but are one and done $70 games which limits how much money they make especially when games gets discount compared to a GAAS which has money coming look at destiny or Apex or Fortnite.
Patreon link in the description. Smash that like button, it would really help me out.
I get thewhy of it, just not the scale. Itâs head scratching to me to use half of your resources to make games that are probably going to fail or find middling success. Itâs how you annoy your very vocal fanbase and allow for shifting sentiments towards the brand in general.
Who knows, maybe theyâll strike gold and make 'ole Jim look like genius. Iâll press x to doubt on that though.
Not going to lie, I hope all the online live service multi-player games either bomb and die or get cancelled. Stay with what youâre great at Sony which is the single player story driven games.
Fair point.
