Playstation Plus revamp announced, Jim Ryan explains why Sony cannot currently offer day and date games in service

returnal not so much but Spiderman would outsell both Horizon and God of war on PC EASILY

No idea why. I guess its development studios. Guerilla nd Santa Monica wanted to port those games to PC.

Insomiac probably don’t want to. Don’t know why. Abslutely ridiculous how a Marvel IP in Spiderman is exclusive to 1 system. Even if it never comes to Xbox it should at least come to PC.

Maybe it has been talked about already, but it means Sony will have to match how much Xbox is paying studios for these deals.

It’s not just third parties but all these indie studios that hate how PlayStation are treating them, helping them.

Xbox has worked for a long time with their various programs and they also listen to what these smaller studios want.

It will be interesting to see how PS will manage yo fix these issues.

How about helping Babylon’s Fall. That will be a start. Square gets more help from Xbox than PS and yet, moneyhat favors the latter.

Yep, that would be a really nice outcome. There are so many games that could be added…RE2 and 3 remakes, Mafia DE just to name a few.

It should be interesting to see what kind of offerings Sony will have. It won’t matter for me, I don’t have a PlayStation console, but hopefully we can see this improve more and more for Game Pass. I mean I like indies, but if I had not enjoyed those games a lot there wouldn’t have been something for me every month. Meaning the non indie games.

I really had a LMAO attack!

Yeah if they are not planning on porting them soon I would find that a very weird decision specially when, again, you are giving them for “free”

Doesn’t this new tier service make PS+ and PSNow more expensive? I’m not sure I followed it exactly, so please point out any incorrect perceptions of mine.

Previously if you had both PS+ and PSNow you have a little over 700 games. Now you need PS+ Premium service for the same a little over 700 games that is offered at $18 a month. Previously you’d have PSNow for $10 a month and get your PS+ for $60 for a year (or $40 via typical deals). You could readily bounce in and out of PSNow as desired. It isn’t clear how easily you can upgrade/downgrade between tiers now that it’s all one big ball of PS+.

They really seem to be pushing folks towards the 12 Months subscription term with how they’re pricing it.

I may be interpreting incorrectly, but I think if you only want the PS4/PS5 game library and are willing to ditch the PS3 games, you can stay at the Extra tier for about the same price you were paying before for both Plus and Now. But if you want to keep the PS3 library you are forced to upgrade to Premium.

I was not expecting much but this is actually less enticing than what I expected. I was thinking they might announce an initiative to put this service on PC, maybe invest in curating a small collection on that platform. Maybe offer discounts for first party games.

It is pretty crazy that Sony is just… gifting Microsoft a victory on the subscription battle. Making a service with all of the complexities of Game Pass takes years of work, and Sony is seemingly not investing yet.

It will be too late when they get to that point.

I was also expecting them to do more in this aspect but its time to realize SONY does not share MSs vision about the futute of the industry.

It’s not when you realise they basically let Netflix, Disney (and everyone else with a streaming service) etc do the same thing on the far more lucrative Film/TV market.

Sony is essentially turning into HBO while MS is becoming Netflix

The latter model will be dominant across the globe while the former is catered towards a targeted audience.

Yeah. Microsoft learnt from Netflix and Disney+. Also, is it true that they removed PS+ Collection from PS+ essentials (basic PS+)?

Too early to tell. PSN originally was not that great in comparison to Xbox Live, but they eventually caught up. I mean in time, when they fix their offerings it will be relatively solid offering to be honest (especially for that yearly price).

I realize that there are embarrassing takes and gamers on every platform, but good grief the level of “copium” by so many Sony fans with a crappy subscription service “upgrade” is crazy. Jim Ryan is just flat out lying about not putting games into there day and date for his “virtuous cycle” garbage, and he basically tips his hand that it is nothing more than a straight business decision when he says it could change at any time until they likely end up being forced to do day and date later as the industry continues to change. The same fans lapping up that garbage rationale by Ryan would be dunking on Game Pass and saying it was doomed if they had announced day and date games today, with not a second thought that quality was a concern.

For some reason Sony fans view Sony financial results as more important then their own gaming budget and their own spending.

It is really weird but in a lot of ways Sony fans are not “gamers” they are simply Sony fans and Sony happens to be in the gaming business. I see it on every gaming outlet where gamers talk, Sony fans care more about Sony’s financial success then they do about actual “games” or whatever Value Sony brings to the table.

I mean they just do not get it, somehow they have been warped into thinking that Hardware Sales and revenue reports are the actual “Hobby” part of gaming. The actual “gaming” part is a secondary concern to them if that.
