Didn’t somebody from Sony already mention that they can update the console to control the fan speed? I think they are aware of the temps and most probably have future plans to alleviate that. When that does happen im curious to see what the noise levels of the console will be.
95 degrees? So that’s what the CPU of PS5 gets at?
Around 70 if I recall correctly.
95 Celsius was the RAM temp, if I recall correctly.
Oh, no reason to panic then. Good.
On the opposite. You should carefully watch the video in its entirety please

There could be, the memory heating could be what’s causing the artifacts some are reporting.
It seems only bad ps5s crosses the threshold to cause it, but since even good ones stay close to the limit could be something that causes trouble overtime (specially because the cooling efficiency is reduced as dust accumulates)
All these issues are starting to snowball, I can now see why Sony was so guarded with their hardware
Not a hardware guy at all so I won’t pretend I understand all this stuff, but apparently artefacting is a common symptom of overclocking.
Does this report hold more weight in light of the issues users are experiencing?
Sony shot down that rumour rather quickly.
Sony’s denial is stated in the article I linked, but a company’s response to a report that portrays them in a negative light isn’t definitive.
Now that we have additional context in which the PS5 is experiencing issues, I’m posing the question if there may have been some truth to the SoC having trouble in its yields.
How many people here currently own or plan to own a PlayStation 5?
Possibly, but I personally think the issues are from Sony trying to squeeze as much performance out of the hardware as they can which is causing heat issues. Compounded by the fact that the cooling solution (specifically for the RAM) is lacking, we are seeing and will continue to see these issues.
As I do every gen, I plan to pick a PS5 much later down the road to play the exclusives.
Looks like Sony released an update to increase fan RPM. Likely due to overhearing, so your PS5 will be louder
Do you think this is why the PS5 is capped to 200w? I remember DF mentioning it in one of their articles.
Good to know. Already a update for the fan is rather soon, Jesus. Plus that it will become louder. Hope it won’t turn out to become a huge problem for people. Seems to me that the Xbox team simply made much better decisions when it comes to all this.
I won’t get one anytime soon, sometime next year and hopefully things look better by then.
I will eventually. I usually like getting devices nice and early because that’s when they’re most vulnerable, but it’s just too expensive and big right now. It’s a little shallow but I also don’t like the look of it
