For me personally, as a single player console only gamer, Sony gives me a total and complete package the majority of the time. PlayStation 3 was what Xbox One was for me in regards to first party exclusives. I preferred Xbox 360 over PlayStation 3 but for PlayStation 4, Sony has completely dominated the majority of my gaming lists since 2017 in regards to game of the year and just best of the best for me. Sony led with 6 games that I rated a 9.0/10 or 9.5/10 with Ubisoft second with 5 games but all 5 were 9.0/10. Ubisoft hasn’t given me a 9.5/10 game since Black Flag but I played that on Xbox 360 so it doesn’t count for the PlayStation 4/Xbox One generation.
I hope to see Microsoft do for me with Xbox Series X with what Sony did with PlayStation 4. I’m expecting them to give me some excellent games this generation like Sony did this now past generation.
As for PlayStation 5, I know im getting 9.0/10+ from Marvel’s Spider Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon II: Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok. Thus far, over the last two generations, only Ubisoft has come close for me.
It was crushing. I already trouble with the inital setup. Wanted to transfer my PS4 data and the process stopped at 85%. PS5 told me to go back to default settings and install the OS from a USB that I had to download from the PS website. And this was worded quite confusingly with “update” when they actually meant the default OS (the particular website both had the ‘updated OS’ and the default OS download).
So, I got to the main menu this time and started downloading my first two games. Finally was happy. And then after about ten minutes, I just heard a loud cracking sound from my lost HDMI connection. Couldn’t turn the PS5 on afterwards anymore. No recovery mode, nothing. The console flashed blue for like one second and then would shut off again.
I’m not 100% sure if I still had the USB with the OS connected and whether that caused the issue or if I just had a bricked unit from the get-go. I mean two severe issues in 30 minutes is not good.
Whoever got their unit: STAY AWAY FROM EXTERNAL DRIVES AND REST MODE! It can severly impact your system - or break it.
The console is back to repair via my retailer now. Hope they just swap it for a new one. They had no replacement units available for cases like me, and said this would take up to January at least. So we’ll see what Sony does.
Will also say that I called Sony at first. Had the most terrible consumer support ever in my life there. Called on the first day where it all happened. They gave me a processing number that I should be able to put on a website to start repair service. Only that I could not start the process on that site, as if it was still not unlocked by Sony! I was just sent through a number of questions how to fix my issue only to conclude that I had to call customer service. WELL I JUST CALLED YOU GUYS -.- So, I tried again on day 2. After waiting for 50 minutes, someone took up the phone. It was the same guy as the other day. I could swear they have like three people working there. I said I can’t initiate the process on the website. He said he’ll check it for me and put me on some music. After 2-3 minutes, he just rang up. I will definitely file a complaint because I don’t think you can treat your customer like that.
Then I went to the retailer who was much nicer and more understanding. A gamer himself, he felt the pain, I think He couldn’t say how long a repair or replacement by Sony would take, though. But I don’t ever want to have to deal with Sony customer support myself anymore.
I’m also a bit mad at myself because I cancelled my second preorder on Wednesday. I’m not one of these scalpers and wanted others to be happy, too. And now I am here without a functioning unit myself
I’ve seen lots of folks on twitter saying it’s amazing in Asrobot but in other games they get tired of it real quick and turn it off. I think i really depends on what kinda game it’s used in in terms of what is appropriate use. CoD MP doesn’t seem like smart use of it, but could be real neat in horror games or something.
Came really close through Kohl’s tonight! But the charge kept getting denied and then my card got restricted, so I’ll have to clear that up in the morning
Anyway. I just saw this video and I would say the dude is hitting the nail on its head.
On the hardest difficulty, doing all the stuff that is worth it, it took him 12 hours. That’s 50 bucks for like 5 or 6 hours of story. It’s flabbergasting indeed that no media source called this out at all. It’s glorified DLC at full price (in my country it sure is).
I have a PS5 as well, as much as all my third party games will be Series X the Dual Sense is the most next gen thing on both systems. I am amazed how I am drawn to the PS5 in less than a week (UK) than I ever was with the Ps3/4. The PS4 I bought Battlefield 4 as played the hell out of it at launch as I did on the Xb1 . But I mainly got it to justify me having a PS4 knowing MP games are Xbox for me everytime .
AstroBot is outstanding tbh one of my games of the year but also Miles is as well. My Xbox bias stopped me playing Spiderman but the Ultimate edition was perfect to get two games to one.
The story mode is great but the side missions really help build Miles up so it doesn’t feel like a distraction. I’m 7 hours in and it’s justified the purchase already. But I understand it won’t be everyone’s choice .
With full features iirc. As for Miles, it’s worth the price if you haven’t played the original and get the deluxe version with Spidey Remastered (like I did). That said, I beat Miles in 4 and a half to 5 hours. Not worth asking price but fantastic game. Oftentimes critics get the game for free and fail to take price into account.
I thought the design was to mitigate heat? How are the panels making the temps worse and why did they invest in a better cooling system for the memory. I wonder how the Series X|S will fair in his test.
