Battery is indeed crap. I use two, one is always charged.
It is, by far the best. I hated the DualShocks.
Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see. Maybe they’ll just refine it, I wouldn’t mind something hall effect-y with more precision.

Same, vibrations, bigger controller size (I have big hands) are two things I prefer on the dualsense
I’d definitely agree with that statement, it’s the most comfortable for sure.
I personally still can’t get on with symmetrical sticks for more than an hour or so as I get hand cramp, but it is a significant improvement.
The only thing I really want from the new Xbox controller is gyro and better haptics. Other than that if they gave us the option to swap out the thumbsticks for Hall Effect too that would be awesome. I installed some in my SteamDeck and it now feels odd when I go back to a Xbox controller.
Haptics really do add something to the game, whereas rumble implementation is usually really poor to the point I often turn it off.
Yeah I don’t understand why we don’t have hall effects, third party wired controller at 30€ propose it
Yeah I assume it’s something to do with them hoping the controller only lasts X months so we have to buy another. Not sure why they wouldn’t otherwise as the price in bulk would be negligible.
The previous ‘leak’ suggests they are going for a more recyclable/modular approach so I would hope you can swap them out. I just hope they also include the gyro with the accelerometer.
In most countries you get a two year warranty. So “planned obsolescence” for anything less than that wouldn’t make much sense.
Personally, I’ve had stick drift on one single controller since the 360, which was replaced for free. Every other controller was (and still is) fine.
If you want to force people to buy extra controllers, use a built-in battery that only lasts four hours and will almost certainly become useless within the lifespan of the console. (Looking at you, PlayStation. Finally a comfortable controller. Nice. But the battery life is a joke.)
I don’t mind the DualSense, bought one to play PlayStation games on PC with and the triggers are kinda cool when implemented right (Deathloop, games with bow and arrow).
But what is infuriating is the crap support Sony give it on PC despite selling their games on it - to use haptics and the adaptive triggers (as well as the controller speaker which I mostly turn off anyway) you have to use a USB C data cable - they won’t work wirelessly as they can’t get it working via Bluetooth.
My Series controller works perfectly whether via Bluetooth or the Xbox dongle that allows for the Xbox wireless technology - so no idea why Sony doesn’t sell a similar USB dongle that allows the DualSense to fully work wirelessly, it’s more money for them and may even allow the PSVR2 to fully work (some payback for owners of it given the lack of support)
On PS5 you can’t even turn the speaker off anymore, as far as I can tell. I’m sitting here with €1500 in home entertainment equipment and have to listen to a tinny controller speaker. Thanks, Sony.
It’s rarely used, thankfully. But I still wish you could disable it and route the speaker audio to the tv/soundbar, like you could on PS4.
The Battery life on the DuelSense is comically awful. I’ve had so many instances where I go to play something on the PS5 and 20 minutes in the controller is about to die even though I barely used it previously. Meanwhile, I’ve put 20+ hours into Oblivion Remastered and have yet to replace the batteries on my Series controller. Also, buying a 2nd controller at $75 to keep charged isn’t a great solution in my opinion.
I’m glad the the features are there for people who want them, but I would rather have a PS5 controller that I didn’t have to plug in after every game session. Or, you know, let me replace the batteries…
100%
The Nintendo Switch Online classic controllers have the same problem. They just loose battery like crazy when not in use.
The speaker is my favorite part of the Dual Sense. I get a kick out of it every time it makes a little sound. I don’t know, I guess I’m easily amused.

Is it hard to do a reward program?
I don’t know, it’s not really a big deal. I have 50+ controllers for Xbox. I think splurging for more than one on PS is ok.
I just switch controllers on PS, like I switch batteries on Xbox. Same effort.
I’m happy for you, but buying another overpriced controller that I don’t need instead of being able to just swap out batteries is bullshit in my opinion. It didn’t stop me from buying the console, but I definitely hate the controller situation and I’ll gladly complain about it.
Complaining about things is literally how shit gets better/changes. Especially after this last decade of seeing protests and boycotts literally affect change, I’m sick of seeing variations of “nothing will change, stop complaining” and it’s as infuriating as it is tone deaf disinformation.
Haha, fair enough.
I like special edition controllers, what can I say.
If you already have or are going to be buying multiple controllers, then yeah.
