This pro model looks to have been a waste of time and money. MS made the right choice to not bother.
When Xbox had the higher TF count we were told how much it didn’t matter, how much higher PC GPUs were and how “it doesn’t fully match up between consoles, you’ve got to consider X, Y and Z” - yet now PS5 finally has a higher number suddenly it’s super important to gaming media.
Fucking hypocrites lol.
(Not so much about this video as it’s mostly just unboxing and fair play they pointed out the same stuff about the stupid doubling of TFs - I meant more their general coverage and particularly their parents Eurogamer and IGN)
Also, I’m surprised how much keeps getting made of that GPU TF figure when the Nvidia 40 series have 3 to 5 times that - it’s not that impressive given the price and particularly given it’s held back by the same CPU (yep just pointing out similar shit to what they used against the Series X lol)
WTF, this is another crazy thing that Sony fans REALLY need to push back against Sony on, having to pay for cloud saves is ridiculous and losing your cloud saves after awhile if your sub lapses is near criminal.
Like I said from the get go… neither PS5 nor Series had the same issues as last gen and neither have even been fully optimized yet.
Reason 99999 of why I don’t bother wasting a second on that lot. We had a literal developer here point out how they don’t know what they’re talking about, so above everything else, there’s that…
It’s funny how easy it is to prove the bias against Xbox when every word and video that would corroborate the point is still readily available on the internet.
the build quality of ps5 is such a crap. If you told me its a Chinese spin off console i would believe it.
I was contemplating getting a Pro (was mostly just feeling FOMO), instead I ended up just selling my PS5 altogether.
From FOMO to GTFO!
I completely understand you though, PS5 will be the first PS that I won’t own…and I paid the equivalent of ~600 euros for a PS2 at the european launch and 650 freakin’ euros for a 60GB PS3. Their 1st party portfolio has become so boring, predictable and stale that it will be really easy to skip the PS5 this generation.
I’ve never been less tempted by a new console and I was PS4 Pro day one along with Xbox One X they really saved that generation for me making games close enough to 4K.
PS5 Pro to me is a market test for how far they can push prices and gather usage data from devs and players. they tried the replicate PS4 Pro but ran into a wall since doubling the GPU would mean selling a 6900XT and realized that waiting for AMD to make a good upscaler would mean waiting for the next generation.
MS already spent their second spec gathering data with Series S so I see why they declined to make a juiced X model and just wait for new technologies to develop, the reception to an Xbox Series XT or whatever would be worse than PS5 Pro.
I think this generation will work out slightly differently than last in that the “base” amateur consoles will be enough for the lifecycle.
They have a 1st party portfolio?
Wait, what? It gets worse?
I could write a book about all the niceties of the Xbox ecosystem compared to the other two… it’s another means of the bias we see in the media; if Sony gave free cloud saves, it would be touted to the high heavens… meanwhile, Xbox has for years and crickets.
I agree completely but I would rather spend the $10 than replay the games. lol
Traded in the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launch models with physical copies of Crisis Core (xbox) and Granblue Fantasy Relink (ps5) along with an Xbox One controller to GameStop for $640. I then pre-ordered the PS5 Pro which I will pick up Thursday after work. Not going to lie, love getting new consoles. Already have the 2TB Series X and now, the Pro. Let’s go baby!!!
It’s grimly funny to me that it’s the same rating as Starfield, which in that case of course signalled a huge disappointment and flop. I’m sure we’ll hear a lot today about how 7/10 is actually a good score and besides, who believes IGN anyway?
At least it’s good as Concord. So it will be healthy.
Actually it makes a lot of sense to me that PS5 Pro would get the same rating as Concord. It’s not that the product is bad per se, but it doesn’t fill a need that anyone asked for.
